The Dems would do the exact same. Nobody should doubt it...

You want to have the ability to stop them, own the Senate. If there is anything learned it's that the Senate holds the power

Not confirming a Supreme Court nominee 10 months before an election then rushing a confirmation through 7 weeks before the next election?
If that's what you mean, I disagree. I'm not claiming one side is all bad and the other all good - but I dont see the Dems doing the same thing.

I have a friend (don't talk much these days because of kids and shit) who was an MBA in New York circa 2000 and then an investment banker at Goldman and Lehman Brothers in the early 2000s. Obviously he was living in NYC in those days and I visited and we did the young single with money guy thing. He routinely mentioned that he knew, from his banking connections, that Trump was the poorest "rich guy" in NYC. Always said he knew it was all leveraged and that Trump was debt personified. Called him pathetic. He was right all along.

He now is a VP of a major international bank. He proudly votes Trump despite his brilliant (and far richer) wife taking a totally opposite political stance. He votes that way to reduce the tax burden on his >$3M annual salary. And he's a born and bred Canadian.

This will not be an easy fix no matter what happens in November.

I do...and I have no problem with it either. Well within their rights to do it. Don't like it, change it

Caman guys, he's the law and order president, surely Trump has done nothing illegal when it comes to paying/not paying his taxes.

Well, the rules are in place and exploited so what he did was probably "Legal" (provided he was telling the truth about how much he lost).

What I can't get is why people don't want to change those rules.

Somebody (can't remember who) the other night was regaling about Warren Buffett who said the tax laws need to be changed because his adjusted tax rate was 17% while his secretary was paying a tax rate of 21%

And Buffett is legitimately one of the world's greatest philanthropists who deserves to be able to take some tax credits for his charitable donations.

Unlike say...donating a $2M plot of land with dilapidated, asbestos-laden buildings and claiming it as a $100M tax write-off.

Nothing legal about understating income/assets for tax purposes and overstating them to obtain debt financing at lower interest rates :noidea:

Maybe not legal, but it's probably 'legal'. Whats more American than the wealthy gaming the system?
But hey, earlier today I heard a story about a woman on welfare getting food from a McDowell's! That's whats wrong with this country, a bunch of freeloaders!

I bet she still pays more in taxes than Trump.
