I think you're right 99% of the time. But I do think some of them will opt not to vote. Also, a number of them are dead.

Remember that Trump didn't pick up more Republican voters than Romney did. They stayed the same. He won over some independents and the Democrats did not turn out. If you had to sum up 2016, it's actually pretty simple - young people and black people didn't turn out for Hillary.

I think what we'll see this time is a less motivated right, a left leaning center, and a more motivated left.
Totally agree with this. I hope the left is more motivated this time but what concerns me the far left that won't vote because Bernie didn't win.

Voter fraud is a myth, but voter suppression combined with voter apathy is very real.

And a ramp up of voter suppression and fudged precinct vote totals to ensure the status quo.

Yeah, there are definitely states that are highly partisan in their execution of elections, from changing voters hours/locations to expanded voting requirements (to solve problems that don't exist) to gerrymandering. Both parties do it. Honestly, the Republicans do it more often and push the boundaries from political gamesmanship to suppressive actions.

I'm sure @dare2be is familiar with it as Florida is a prime example of this from their gamesmanship with early voting to their absurd laws restricting former felons.

Definitely need some well positioned toilets near banana peals down there.

Remember how all us liberals stopped wearing masks after Trump called it patriotic just to make something partisan that shouldn't be.

Oh wait... that won't fucking happen.

Kasich may have been their third choice, but he's quite possibly the best they've got.

I see this as an extremely low risk play because I agree with eloco that nobody who was planning to vote for Biden is going to not vote for him as a result of this, but he may pick up some votes as a result. Will it make a difference? Possibly not, but it's worth trying wherever you can.

And since Ohio is a genuine battleground, unlike say Utah where even Mitt's (hell, even if they got McMullin on their side too) endorsement wouldn't be enough to swing it, you take what you can get.

Yeah, he's not going to lose anything, I just meant that if he wants to really make a difference he needs to address the things that those voters want to see. That will be more effective than anything Kasich will bring.

Ohio is a swing state because there are a lot of people in the small towns only care about who is going to do something to help them directly. They don't necessarily care about party.
