Does anyone have a writing/drawing pad for their computer? Any advice on good ones? I defend next Tuesday, and am looking into teaching gigs (which might end up being remote, ultimately) besides, and think I'd benefit from one.
Top 10 Best Drawing Tablets For Beginners & Professionals 2020

My daughter has #4 on the list and it works for her. But she is only drawing on it and not doing much more interactive items. The main reason it was purchased was due the pen being easy for lefties, in which she is.

My daughter is an aspiring artist/cartoonist and we got her this: Wacom Intuos Creative Pen Small - Black - Micro Center

The idea was to see how much she'd use it and how good she could do with it before maybe upgrading. Setup was easy and she has not had any issues with it. She tried a bunch of different software before she found something she really liked, so that's a big part of it.

She wants to upgrade to a more "pro" one with programmable keys and better sensitivity. Maybe one of the ones with an actual screen.

The hell kind of behavior is this?

You're suppose to tap your sick on the boards during a fight, not rap your fist against a table. No decorum.

Still seems nicer than this, hurled by the socialist because the evil conservative wasn’t re-opening his district fast enough due to (checks notes) lots of death:

First Jagmeet and now this guy - We're going to lose the "nice, polite Canadians" label if this continues.

This Ohio city’s plan to get more people to buy electric cars worked

A big factor is the charging infrastructure. Every major employer in town has 5-10 charge spots out front. In addition every mall has dozens and Meijer which is a chain here that is like what would happen if WalMart wasn't founded by cousins who married all have built or are building charging spots. It's very practical to have an electric car to commute / use locally. But this really was a push. Honda, BMW, Tesla and Chevy had an event where I work where people could test drive cars and talk about the practicality. Unfortunately, BMW only brought an i3... I still drove it, but wished they'd brought an i8.

Now we just need something like this: 13 Electric Vehicle Conversion Companies

Because most EVs are butt ugly or stupidly expensive. I would love to have an old Porsche 944 or 914 or VW Doka pickup EV as a runabout.

These guys have a show on Motortrend and they do them
https://www.motortrendondemand.com/show/vintage-voltage/3361/

They can put a Tesla drive train in pretty much anything you bring them. The owner has a Doka that can do 0-60 in 5 seconds.

I recently made the switch to a Tesla and that's even living in a state that is, on the whole, pretty hostile towards EVs. We don't (yet) have the additional registration fee that some states have, but we also offer no tax incentives, whether directly through your tax return or indirectly via utility rebates, to buy the car or install a home charger. We also found a loophole to not avoid the exemption in state law that EV drivers can use HOV/HOT lanes for free/with only the driver.

The part of town I spend most of my time in has a slightly better charging infrastructure than other areas, so that's helpful, but we're also starting to see an increase in new construction businesses installing free or relatively cheap charging stations in their decks/lots. Unfortunately, we don't have much in the way of charging at some of the bigger spots such as parks and malls.

All that said, I still bought the car because it's damned fun to drive.

Here they added a $200/year tax for roadways to balance out the lost gas tax revenue which I think is reasonable. But there is still (albeit ever-shrinking) tax incentive to install a charging station at your home.

A friend of mine has a Tesla and it is pretty zippy, which I think would translate well to classic cars too when conversions get bigger. I also loved that I was able to change his car to make the Jetsons car sound.

The problem with electric car ownership (aside from the carbon and environmental footprint associated with building them (debatable)) is the power grid where you own them. Just looking quickly at Ohio'e electrical power generation ~85% of their power grid is generated by fossil fuel burning (NG and coal). So those folks who are plugging in their cars to charge are actually predominately using natural gas (better on emissions that gasoline or diesel) or coal (much worse) to power their vehicle.

Ohio is still better than my province who is running about 90% on fossils. :burt:

I really wish they'd switch to a mileage-based system that factors the weight of the car so that we can more appropriately offset the fuel revenues.

I only have the entry-level (aka slowest) version, but it's still quicker than the Acura I was driving.

As you say too, some of the extras are fun, even if they're not the reason to buy the car. You can watch Netflix and Hulu through the console tablet, which is useful to pass some time while charging. You can even enable what they now call emissions testing mode, which is the more tongue-in-cheek name for fart mode.

Thanks for the tips. Went with the Wacom. It should suit my equation-writing and loose-diagramming needs quite well.

What's worse, Trump saying 'Kung Flu' in his two recent campaign rallies or the crowd roaring its approval both times? As bad as the slur is, he knew how the crowd would react.

We are creeping in the right direction, slowly: Coal no longer dominant source for Ohio electricity

We have a HydroElectric dam in our town and more and more power for this part of Ohio is being drawn from Van Wert Wind Farms: Blue Creek Wind Farm, Ohio - Power Technology | Energy News and Market Analysis

Plans are to continue to expand wind power.

What's worse, Trump saying 'Kung Flu' in his two recent campaign rallies or the crowd roaring its approval both times? As bad as the slur is, he knew how the crowd would react.

He only speaks in, and they only respond to, dog whistles
