This is the new salary dump strategy that has come about in the last few years. I don’t like it, but it is one of the side effects of getting rid of the August trading period.
I would think that this may be a sticking point in negotiations for the next CBA.

And I say this unironically:

Johnny Cueto, #forevergiant
I wasn’t a fan of the Samardzija signing but I thought Cueto was a shrew move. Props to him for gutting it out in the minor leagues this year because he loves baseball. He definitely doesn’t need the money.

Just in case you DIDN'T feel old today
For anyone who doesn’t know (I doubt anyone here doesnt know this)…

He is the kid JT pulled off the field in the ‘02 Series.

Yes THAT little, 4 year old kid…

FZ probably doesn't get enough credit for this move:

At the time of the trade, the analytics made it out to be a HUGE steel for the Giants. I posted some analysis of the trade at the time.

The fact we actually received a half-way decent prospect in that trade is mind blowing.

I noticed that too, he got worse, so FZ won.
His HR power went up, but his SLG and OBP both went down. I havent looked at his defensive metrics, but he never took the field for us, so not sure how to judge that, either way.
