When I initially thought about and posted my season prediction thread the number of wins that I constantly arrived at was nine. I arrived at this number by speculating a rather roller coaster of a season visualizing the team cycling through more easily digestible 3-1, and 1-3 efforts with the last game, on the road against Dallas becoming the tie-breaking entry into the playoffs. The rather surprising 7-2 start, while welcomed by all, gave me pause because I knew that despite a favorable schedule, those 3-1, 1-3, efforts that I imagined were being replaced by something a lot less enjoyable than I cared to conscientiously entertain. Now it has become obvious that this season is one of two halves, one beginning with 7-2 and the other 2-6, with that Dallas game remaining the defining game of this season. Since that 7-2 start the team has yet to taste victory in the 3 games they’ve played and with 5 left on their schedule, a suddenly struggling offense, and a rushing YPG defense that ranks among the worse in the game, (Panthers 160.5, Cowboys 150.5, Giants 147.9, and Commanders 145.5) it’s becoming difficult to see where win 10 comes from. Perhaps, the offense snaps out of its recent struggles against one of the top defenses in the league on Sunday, (the Titans rank 1st against the pass, 2nd in total ypg, 3rd down %, and 3rd in yds/play) but it’s a tall ask to rely upon their offense turning the ball over, Washington taking advantage of a shortened field, a week after getting several of those opportunities and failing to score against a much weaker team. For me, there are at least two wins left on their schedule and if anyone can see where there’s more than that in the lineup of upcoming games against Titans, Saints, Eagles, Falcons, and Cowboys, I’m listening!

My Predictive Game Summaries:

Washington Commanders vs. Tennessee Titans December 1, 2024 As I see it playing out!

First Quarter

Kickoff: The Commanders receive the opening kickoff, with Noah Igbinoghene returning it to the 25-yard line. Jayden Daniels and the Commanders' offense take the field.

First Drive: Daniels leads a meticulous drive, mixing short passes and runs. He connects with Terry McLaurin for a 20-yard gain, then finds Zach Ertz for 15 yards. The drive stalls in the red zone, and Zane Gonzalez kicks a 35-yard field goal. The crowd immediately grows restless

Titans' Response: The Titans' offense, led by Will Levis, takes over. Levis hands off to Tony Pollard, who breaks through for a 15-yard run. The drive continues with a deep pass to Tyler Boyd for 30 yards. The Titans reach the Commanders' 20-yard line, but a key sack by Dorance Armstrong forces them to settle for a 38-yard field goal.

Second Quarter

Commanders' Drive: Daniels wastes no time, leading a quick drive down the field. He finds Noah Brown on a crossing route for 25 yards. On third down, Daniels scrambles and dives into the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown run.

Titans' Offense: Levis leads a balanced drive, featuring short passes and runs. The Commanders' defense stiffens near the red zone, forcing the Titans to attempt a field goal. Daron Payne blocks the attempt, and the Commanders' defense celebrates.

Late Half Heroics: With under two minutes left, Daniels orchestrates a two-minute drill, hitting McLaurin and Olamide Zaccheaus for big gains. Inside the 10-yard line, Daniels fires a strike to Dyami Brown for a touchdown.

Third Quarter

Titans' Turn: The Titans start the second half with a strong drive. Levis connects with Pollard on a screen pass that goes for 25 yards. Pollard punches it in from the 5-yard line for a touchdown.

Commanders' Response: Daniels continues his stellar play, driving the team downfield with precision. He finds Sinnot for a 15-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead.

Titans' Effort: Levis faces relentless pressure from the Commanders' front seven. A key interception by Frankie Luvu gives the Commanders excellent field position.

Fourth Quarter

Commanders' Control: Daniels takes advantage of the turnover, finding McLaurin for a 30-yard gain. McNichols caps off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown run.

Titans' Late Push: The Titans try to mount a comeback. Levis leads a solid drive, finishing with a touchdown pass to Ridley.

Final Defensive Stand: The Commanders' defense holds firm, forcing the Titans to turn the ball over on downs. Daniels runs out the clock with a few kneel-downs, sealing the victory.
