Washington Commanders vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Week 19, Playoff game info

Date:
Sunday, January 12th 2025

Time: 8:00 PM ET

Site: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL

TV/Streaming: Peacock NBC with Al Michaels, Chris Collinsworth, Michele Tafoya and the Washington Commanders Radio Network

Playoff Standings:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 10-7 (1st in the NFC-South, Division Winner)

Washington Commanders: 12-5 (2nd in the NFC East, Wild card)

Guys, and ladies, I'm not worried about this game. Dreams aside, I am very confident that the Commander will win this game, and for a few good reasons. First and foremost, the Commanders are a far different team than the one that opened the season in Tampa Bay. It's also no stretch to see the NFC East as a stronger division than the NFC South and that inter-division competition has sharpened them a tad more than the teams in the South have against the Buccaneers. Please make no mistake, Baker Mayfield is a playoff monster who will find a lot of success against the Commanders' defense, but there's another story being written this year. It involves Washington's rookie QB Jayden Daniels, a quick study, a student of the game who will go head-to-head with Mayfield and pull off the upset in his first playoff game.

My Predictive Game Summary:

Washington Commanders vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - January 12, 2025, As I see it!

First Quarter

The Buccaneers receive the kickoff and start from their 25-yard line. Baker Mayfield orchestrates a balanced drive with short passes and runs. The drive stalls at the Commanders' 32-yard line, and the Bucs settle for a 49-yard field goal.

Jayden Daniels takes the field for the Commanders. They mix in runs by Brian Robinson and quick passes. On 3rd and 8 at the Buccaneers' 45-yard line, Daniels connects with Terry McLaurin on a deep route, placing them in scoring position. The drive culminates with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz.

Second Quarter

Tampa Bay responds with an efficient drive, featuring big plays by Mike Evans and Chris Godwin Jalen McMillian. Mayfield finds Evans for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

The Commanders answer back with a methodical drive. Jayden Daniels uses his legs to convert a crucial 3rd down. The drive is capped by a 25-yard field goal by Zane Gonzalez.

The Buccaneers hurry down the field in their two-minute drill. Attempting a 50-yard field goal just before halftime it goes ride right.

Third Quarter

Washington receives the second-half kickoff and mounts a solid drive. Brian Robinson breaks free for a 30-yard run, bringing them into Buccaneers' territory. The drive results in a 37-yard field goal by Gonzalez.

Mayfield leads the Buccaneers on a quick strike, thanks to a 50-yard bomb to Evans, Bucky Irvin punches it in from the 3-yard line for a touchdown.

Fourth Quarter

The Commanders drive down the field with a mix of Daniels' passing and running. Daniels finds McLaurin for a spectacular 20-yard touchdown.

Mayfield and the Buccaneers face a determined Commanders defense. They manage to get into field goal range but miss a 45-yard attempt.

The Commanders take advantage of the miss, driving quickly down the field. Daniels, under pressure, scrambles and finds Olamide Zaccheaus in the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown.

With time running out, Mayfield leads a desperate drive. He throws a 10-yard touchdown pass to Godwin.

The Buccaneers attempt an onside kick, but it is recovered by the Commanders. A couple of kneel-downs seal the victory for Washington. Final Score: Washington 27, Tampa Bay 24.

A thrilling game, with both teams showing resilience and determination. Enjoy the game, everyone!

i think we win 34 to 33.

the same concerns we have about run defense and the secondary will still be there

my concerns are a few

1) lattimore getting stupid penalties

2) our DT's play hero ball and forget the run

3) our run game fizzles
