How is Luis Aparicio in the Hall of Fame? Is there something I'm missing? I know he's regarded as one of, if not the, greatest defensive shortstop of all time, but his offensive production is so lackluster that I can't think of a reason why he should be in, especially when players like Jack Glasscock and particularly Alan Trammell are not in. Aparicio had an 18 year career and only cracked 4 Wins Above Replacement three times. I'm not buying that his defense, even at shortstop, made up for his career 83 wRC+, which is the second lowest all time among HOFers

Here is why. He won 9 gold gloves: was a 9 time all star; Had 2677 hits: Led the league 9 straight years in stolen bases; Scored 1335 runs; Ranked 6th all time in assists; 6th all time in putouts: Also he was consistent year after year.

Really? Justifying HOF worthiness through Gold Glove and All-Star selections? :L

Back then gold gloves actually meant something for SS. People took the awards seriously then, unlike today. Same with All Star selections.

Yeah and back in the 60's people thought that if they smoked certain cigarette brands over others they wouldn't get cancer. Should we still apply the same logic in 2015?

Once in they're not going to take them out so why worry about it? It isn't like there's a limited amount of spots. SS's weren't expected to hit back then. That's changed.

Omar, sabermetrics didn't exist in the 60's. Back then, no one ever considered doing that sort of calculation. So the poster above is correct...can't kick him out.

I see what you're saying. A better question is "do you think Apparicio should be in the HOF" rather than "why is Aparicio in the Hall of Fame?"

Apparacio was a pitchers best friend. He displayed incredible range. No telling how many hits that he turned into outs!

Lol at the pictures Ced and Jvett. In the year 2050 some asshole is going to ask why Omar Vizquel got into the Hall of Fame and someone is going to mention that in 2020 people thought diet soda was healthier than regular soda

Thank you. Diet soda is the biggest fraud perpetrated on the American public since one hour martinizing. It gives all soda a bad name. Coca Cola and Pepsi are great American products meant to give you a refreshing boost of energy in ice cold 7 or 12 ounce bottles, with real sugar and real caffeine. Somewhere along the line that got bastardized into a bunch of lazy, unhealthy fucks guzzling a 12 pack a day of chemical filled garbage with no sugar and sometimes no caffeine. What the fuck is the point of that? It doesn't even taste good.

ok, I'm done

"Real" soda trivia: what is the one soda that is marketed as being able to be drunk warm, or even hot? Hint it's Omar 382's favorite soft drink of all time

Hell no. I'm with you- I'll drink a diet soda every now and then but I (most of the time at least) refuse to drink non or decaffeinated sodas. So I rarely ever drink 7-Up, Sprite, Sierra Mist, Orange, Grape soda, etc. I do have a tradition of drinking cream soda on Thanksgiving though. Also Barq's has caffeine whereas that Mugs and AW bullshit doesn't.

Anyone what was my stupid and uninteresting point?

Oh yeah- Dr. Pepper is marketed as being able to be served hot. I've actually tried it and it's not bad. Dr. Pepper is God's gift to earth. A lot of theologians will tell you it's Jesus- but no. God got bored one day and decided to hook humans up so we got Dr. Pepper.

Anyway stop wasting my fucking time. I have a calculus exam at 5 and I'm pretty sure they're not going to be asking what sodas can or cannot be served warm

I drink a lot of this because I don't want to look like a pear and caffeine keeps me awake. I relax the rules if I'm doing your mom and her girlfriend in the late hours. Then it's Vanilla Coke or Dr. Pepper.
