Well the next time Rapoport is correct will be a first. I'm not seeing a need for Foles in DC but what do I know.

Wait it wasn't that long ago you were laughing at me when I predicted a crash and burn for Foles. Now who's laughing?

Foles is due $8.75 million this year. If they trade him, they save $2 million.

Would any one here be really upset if we traded RG3 for Foles and made Foles the backup to Cousins?? The Rams could afford the initial hit, and Griffin would be alot more likely to rework his deal and extend it knowing he is the unquestioned starter in LA.

We can't afford a backup QB that makes 9M a year. So I would be upset.

Foles BASE salary for 2016 is $1.75 million, he has a $1 million bonus pro rate which the RAMS would have to pay off in order to trade him.

He has a $6 million dollar bonus tied to being on the RAMS roster.. this too would go away if traded by the Rams. So his cap hit to us would be $1.75 million in 2016.

in 2017 he has a base salary of $10.75 million and a roster bonus (again tied to the Rams roster) of $1.5 million.

So in effect he would be a one year rental as a backup for $1.75 million.

The devil is in the details. The Rams wrote his extension in such a way that they could get OUT of the deal if needed.

Wouldn't McCoy be cheaper if he resigned? Yes Foles has more upside but like you said its just a one year rental.

This is crazy on several levels. First, not sure whether we'd want Foles here if he played for free. But Rappoports' tweet indicates that we'd be interested in giving up something in a trade for him. Don't see that. And then, there's the issue of his bloated cap number.

Rappoport is just making stuff up now.

McCoy would cost about the same as he was $1.35 last year. So its six in one hand half dozen in the other. But McCoy is also two years older and five inches shorter. My guess is McCoy will try and go some place to get one last shot at competing for a starting role... he aint getting that in DC.

True but McCoy knows our offense so his worth is actually greater than Foles.

As I explained.. .weither cut or traded, the Rams are on the Hook for $8 million for Foles. If traded, they technically save $1.75 million. The team that trades for him picks up the $1.75 million... and thats it for 2016.

I'd rather have McCoy here. While he may not have some of the physical tools Foles has, he's been in the system for two years and Gruden really likes him. He's got more mobility and pocket presence than Foles does as well. But I'll leave for this Scot to decide.

Agreed, but as i said, I dont think McCoy is going to want to stay as a backup.

Thanks for the heads up on his cap number. I didn't check Over The Cap on that, but don't consider it much of an issue since I'd rather have McCoy here anyways.

He doesnt have to get a starting gig. But if some one makes him an offer with a CHANCE to compete for the starting job, he takes it.

McCoy only stays in DC if the options are.. be a designated backup here , or be a designated backup some place else.
