Another day game because the Clippers play tonight. :L

I think they forgot who owns the arena.

I dislike these games for exactly this reason, the way the Kings start. I've never understood why basketball gets the night slot.

It may be for ice reasons. How bad is the ice after a basketball game in the afternoon?

That was interesting, Doughty just took the face off. Never seen that, a d-man taking a face off.

I actually do when I play sometimes but only when the faceoff is in our zone.

For one, I can play F and D, but it's more for the defensive alignment and coverage. We will do this and load the goalie side of the dot with the LW and C behind him (left/front of goalie), the RW to my right and my defense partner to my left close to the net (right/front of goalie). The opposing team will not line up two guys by the C and LW because a potential 2-on-1 attacking them is almost guaranteed.

In case I lose the draw, the wings immediately bolt out to the point men, the C takes off forcing their C to drop back into coverage and my partner controls the net and I can help recover the puck.

Believe it or not, teams look at us a little weird when we do this because it messes up their alignment and when it works, we pretty much box out the net immediately, gain possession and start the breakout into transition.

The looks I get when I go head to head with a C is funny, they are like "WTF is this" haha.

The Kings actually didn't play a bad game. They generated plenty of scoring chances and shots on goal. The problem was they didn't generate any good scoring chances until the 3rd period and were down 0-2 by then. The big difference in the game was the Kings inability to generate anything with the man advantage. They were 0 for 5 while the Flyers were 1 for 5. Simmons' game-winner was a power play goal. Biggest disappointment in that area was not even getting a shot off (let alone a shot on goal) with the 13 second 2-man advantage they had late in the 3rd. A sad loss to a team that's been really down lately (especially on the road) and they should have handled easily. Hopefully Gaborik can get back in the lineup on this road trip and invigorate the top line offense a little.

That PP was their chance, I believe there was 5-6 minutes left in the game. But wow was that an ugly PP, and when Carter ripped a shot, missed the net and it rung around and went out the other side and into the Kings' zone I knew they were going to lose this game.

Pathetic too considering the Flyers are dead last in the league on the PK I believe. Gaborik coming back will help immensely but dude has missed quite a few games already this season, looks like his injury history remains strong.
