Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL)

From what I gather, this is a 14 team league and the leading scorer to date is Yanick Lehoux (I know, you're probably thinking Le-Who?) with 19 points in 14 games for Adler Mannheim. He's a former L.A. King draft pick in the 3rd round, 86th overall in 2000. Has played in only 10 Nhl games for the Phoenix Coyotes, but was very productive at the minor league level and in the Q.

Well, that is a 1.36 point per game pace for the top player.

Giroux and Briere have 12 points each in only 5 games, a 2.4 point per game pace.

:heh:

hartnell may join Kal-Pa soon in finland.. and timonen looks like he wont play anywhere unless the season is fully cancelled, and if/when that happens, he'll join Kal-Pa as well.. both players have some stake in the team as owners

sami kappanen is the majority owner, jussi timonen plays for the team, and kimmo kappanen (i think is his first name) is the GM of the team

grossmann is still practicing with a minor team in sweden.. nobody can cover his insurance (i guess it's higher coming off knee surgery?)

schenn is still practicing with some NHL guys in kelowna i believe

coburn is occupied with being the flyers player rep in negotiations

that pretty well covers everyone important i think

simmonds coming home.. stewart also leaving libarec (back to germany).. perhaps the racism was part of the reason?

and now news that grossmann is gunna play 4 games with Sodertalje (Read's team).. they've won 9 of their last 10, grossmann will only help

gettin a little quiet in europe these days.. everyone's playing outside of giroux, but nobody is really tearing it up

sestito did have a hat-trick yesterday though.. and briere is good for an assist just about every game.. the rest of the gang seems to be quieting down though

read coming home this weekend.. not before SSK's GM could say some nice things about him though

"Read has shown a fantastic commitment to his hockey, to his friend Emil Billberg and to the team. He played for compensation that didn't even cover his own costs. And if it so happens that the lockout ends and he doesn't come back, we want to express our huge gratitude and respect to Matt, who we didn't even know a couple months ago. We hope at the the same time that our fans come out and show their appreciate tomorrow against Oskarshamn. We know that would mean a lot to Matt, because he's really come to appreciate the SSK fans."

Eisbaren Berlin

The Berlin Polar Bears have won 5 of their last 6 (the lone loss in OT) due in large part to 4 goals (one an OT winner) and 5 assists from Danny Briere over that stretch. He is tied with Andre Rankel for the team lead at 34 points, but has played in 5 fewer games.

Giroux had 19 points in 9 games, which is absolutely ridiculous. I'm assuming he's still back in Ottawa skating and training to get to 100% in expectation of a short Nhl season on the way in a few weeks.

Bryz has also been playing better of late too. I think he's won like 5 in a row now and his numbers are much more respectable. Something like 2.5 and .920.

Briere has a bruised wrist. So with the lockout potentially ending soon, uh, fuck.
