The Devils already have a great core; adding a dominating, big-bodied center is the icing on the cake.

A monster playoff run showed off Huberdeau's sick hands; now imagine him as the No. 2 center behind John Tavares.

Jonas Hiller’s vertigo issues exposed the Ducks’ lack of goalie depth; Gibson is best available at the position.

23. Pittsburgh: Ty Rattie, RW, Portland (WHL)

All Rattie does is score and for a Penguins team in need of wingers for its sublime centers, he fits the bill.

24. Detroit: Jonas Brodin, D, Färjestad (SWE)

Responsible defenseman from Sweden sounds like classic Wings pick. Brodin has a great stride and puck skills.

25. Toronto: Matt Puempel, LW, Peterborough (OHL)

The Leafs need top-six forwards and Puempel provides pure goal-scoring and a great work ethic.

26. Washington: Victor Rask, C, Leksands IF (SWE)

This Swedish pivot brings both size and skill to the table, plus he’s an ace in the faceoff circle and works hard.

27. Tampa Bay: David Musil, D, Vancouver (WHL)

This big, physical defenseman has NHL bloodlines (his father Frank was an NHL defenseman and his uncle is former NHL center Bobby Holik). He knows how to take away space and make the first pass.

28. San Jose: Tomas Jurco, RW, Saint John (QMJHL)

The Slovakian import dazzled at the CHL skills competition and was a constant threat on a loaded Sea Dogs team.

29. Vancouver: Dmitri Jaskin, RW, Slavia Praha (CZE)

Jaskin is a big-bodied Czech who finishes his checks and always competes. He doesn’t mind mixing it up in traffic.

Chy...here is the Hf boards analysis of Schenn...2008-09: As one of Western Canada’s premier 17-year old player, a lot was expected from the center as he entered his second season with the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL), and he didn’t disappoint. Improving on his numbers from last season, Schenn recorded a career-high 88 points (32g+56a) in 70 games. He likes to scrap and saw his PIM nearly double from last season, racking up 82 minutes in the box. Registered another eight goals and 18 points in 12 playoff games.

2009-10: Schenn posted 34 goals and 65 assists in 59 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL last season. In the playoffs, he posted 8 goals and 11 assists in 15 games. Schenn made his NHL debut with the Kings on November 26th, where he logged 19 shifts and 12:31 in ice time.



Talent Analysis

Schenn, along with regular linemates Scott Glennie and Matt Calvert (CBJ), spent the first half of the season being shifted with a variety of Wheat Kings forwards in an effort to create scoring balance. During the second half, Schenn elevated his offensive output and was a key contributor to the Wheaties push for first place in the WHL’s East Division in the Eastern Conference. A smooth skater with good acceleration, Schenn demonstrates a knack for finding open ice. He does not hesitate to rough things up and has the size to dominate in traffic. He is an above-average passer of the puck.

Future

Look for Schenn to try and stick with the Kings through training camp and make the NHL, likely as a second or third line forward
