I am on the Suter train for now.

As far as 3rd pairing goes I would like Scott Hannan. He got some mixed reviews on the general board, but I think he is a solid 3rd pair guy. Made only 1m with the Flames this year, so he will be pretty cheap.

Were still losing Carle and kubina so we are going to need just more then schenn

Schenn and Suter will both be Flyers before the start of training camp. Bet on it!

that would be insanely awesome.

jvr's 4.25 + 3.95 space + 4.9 pronger = 13.1

suter 7 + schenn 3.6 = 10.6

please do.

ps. voracek that means you have to sign for 2.5. you're cool w/ that right?

Awaz, if Homer wants both, I'm very sure he can make it work w/ cap assuming Burke still wants to deal Schenn and Suter would want to play in Philly. If Suter wants to get a lot of exposure etc. Philly is a great place for him. If not, then he can go fuck himself.

Keep in mind gents, if we really want to sway Suter here, be prepared for another contract that will have the initials NTC or NMC, can you handle this?

good point. maybe next year is the year they finally waive shelley

Dont we get rid Lappy and Betts money also?

didn't include them in the initial add up.. they're both FA's this year

same as last year, only added up the contracts on the first post, rather than subtract the salaries that come off from their current payroll

I know the D is the biggest topic here and probably will be all summer long. Hell we might still be talking about it up till the trade deadline next year fwiw. I have a slightly different question.

What are the chances homer tries to restructure G's contract? I mean the fact that there is anyone on this team who makes more than him is a little backwards given the year he had (reg and post season). I was flipping back and forth between cap hit and actual salary and yeah, G makes half of what danny B makes until the last year of his contract. I know he has a relatively new contract, but he wasn't in 'the best player in the world' discussion when he signed it.

If I'm G, I'm looking to make a little more cash and sign for a long time to come. If I'm homer, I'm trying to sign him to as long term deal as possible and try to keep it 'cap friendly'. I mean, isn't he the cornerstone to homer's plan?

It just seems like both sides would have good reason to tackle it early...

in the current CBA there's not restructuring of contracts.. contracts are signed for the duration of the contract and cannot be eliminated unless the player is bought out.. and buying out a contract costs 2/3's of the remaining salary spread out over twice the duration of the contract in cap space (ie: buy out a guy with 6 mil left to be paid over the next 2 years, (4 mil over 4 years = you lose 1 mil in cap space per year for 4 years).. keep in mind though that this CBA ends this summer (august i think)

giroux was extremely friendly when he signed that contract, though he signed it primarily on potential since he only had 70 points the year prior to signing it, and i believe he signed in the middle of that season

giroux will be the steal of the NHL for the duration of his contract.. and the brilliant thing of it for the flyers is, he'll be restricted at the end of it, which will help them keep the cap hit down because any team that tries to offer sheet him will owe three or four 1st round picks

Holy crap you know a lot about the CBA. I had no idea about any of the above information. Do you keep a copy of it by your bed to read it before you go to sleep? That is way better than the way the NFL does it with holdouts and the like...

I'm going to slowly crawl back behind the proverbial rock and pretend I didnt open my trap.

So about Dmen....

haha sometimes i worry that i have a problem :D.. its really interesting to me to see how they work the business side of hockey

stick around these parts and you'll end up like me though.. i learned most of the stuff from this board or the general board (some guys over there are even more ridiculous than i am haha).. plus it helps to follow a team that works its ass off to spend every cent they can and sometimes gets bit in the ass trying to (pronger contract)

This is why he came up with this thread. Awaz, 47, Faithful, and others on here know a little bit about the CBA. These are the fellas I go to for info. I got confused. Lol. These guys are engineers, smart!
