If I was a fan of either team, I wouldn't be happy with my D... I didn't sit and watch every second, but from what I saw, a lot of turnovers in their own zone (both teams), and no goalie protection. The ice was the savior for both teams last night.

Yeah, based on what I saw, I really hope that the Pens management gets to work on bettering the ice. Looked like poo.

Other than the outcome of the game, I am most pissed at the pregame coverage... I really wish FSN Pittsburhg broadcasted this game.. I would've liked to have seen Mario and the team announced and all the SportsHoopla for the first game of the year and first game in a new building... instead we got to listen to some candy-ass band playing in toronto... thumbs up VS.

Went to the game yesterday. Few thoughts I had...

Pens dominated most of the opening period but couldn't finish any of their opportunities.

Pens were flat in the second period. Whole building felt flat too. No idea why. Flyers took care of business when needed.

Energy returned in the third period and it was a good battle. Philly was able to defend well at the end and hold onto a victory.

Neither team looked near midseason form. Truly looked like the opening game of the season.

Good game though. Great opening night celebrations too.

I had the same impression about it looking like the very first game. Neither breakout was good, the powerplays looked very inefficient and there were a ton of shots from both teams that should have found the net. Congrats to the Flyers for taking the game, they capitalized on the Penguins mistakes. It'll be a fun season though. I still hold my head high as a Pens fan, especially since I live in Atlanta, heh.

Dragging this back up to say something regarding the crowd. I agree with whoever said it wasn't great, but they did have us fucking clapping for 45 minutes before the game. It was exciting (and I didn't stop yelling/clapping), but I could see why people kind of settled down earlier than usual.

Tribute to Barbaro was great. Don't think they showed that on TV.
