Great, up-tempo game. Stupid play on the powerplay killed us. Seriously, just a stupid, unnecessary pass from tang (i think?) and martin couldn't play it, and a great finish by giroux. i'm not too worried about the D or goaltending, honestly Fleury made some ridiculous saves and really couldn't have stopped any of the goals...deflection no chance, 2nd mayyybe a bad rebound, but his D didn't bail him there, and 3rd a bad turnover. The offense was just stiffled by a hot goalie (Bob's looking great Philly fans, I'd be excited if I were you), but overall the Pens "dominated" play for most of the game...which makes the loss that much more frustrating. I'm not too worried though...Geno and Sid both looked on their game, Michalek and Martin looked good, TK came through in the clutch (FINALLY), Tangradi played VERY well. It'll be interesting to see who loses a roster spot with Asham coming back...very interesting. BTW, rumors of Lilja being interested in coming here...I think they should do it if he's coming cheap. I'm not a big fan of Engelland's game tonight. Physical, but out of position, and I feel like Lovejoy is better suited as a 7th for the time being. JMO though. Good game Philly! Though, it wasn't the typical State rivalry, was it? Not as physical, more puck moving and strategic. Fun to watch though! I LOVE HOCKEY!

Besides whiff big time on that perfect feed he got late in the 3rd that would have sealed the game.....I didn't see him do anything. He wasn't skating all that well. He didn't hit anybody. He wasn't back checking.

Oh wait! By having a "solid game" you meant he didn't take any idiotic penalties and had 1 shot on goal, right?

There were SO MANY missed oppurtunities in that game. Still a lot of rust to shake off. That game could have gone either way. The bounces weren't going in anyones favor.

Good analysis Pix. Your team did look good. One game is a good feeling out process on improvements that need to be made, but except for a few mistakes the Pens looked pretty solid. It's good to hear that another fan can say hey your goalie was the difference. Maybe Bob will be legit. He was lucky a few times but he played great positionally and that helps when you need a lucky bounce here and there. I agree Pix, a little more physical presence was needed.

That game could have been 10-9 with all the crazy bounces that puck was taking near the goal.
