Fly Fishing

Just picked it and I'm hoping to figure it out this spring. I may pay a local Orvis guide to give me a lesson. Anyone else here fly fish. If so how long did it take you to learn to cast.

I did a long time ago. Always has interested me but time restraints and picking my battles make it be on the back burner.

It is great fun for sure. Wish I could give more advice but my time in the water is limited.

You live in a wonderful state for fly fising cold water. You're lucky to so many streams that support trout. Might has well get out and learn while you're still young enough to enjoy it.

Quabbin-Swift River (Quabbin Reservoir) is about 20 mins from me. I may look back into this again. It sure does sound like something I would completely enjoy and cherish that time.

I agree. Actually I do "fly fish" here at some places. I just use my regular reel and rod to do it..

I do. I'm not awesome, but have caught plenty of fish. I started just by watching a video to get the cast timing down. Watch a video. Go out in the backyard and practice until you get the wrist flip correct.

I have been fly fishing for about 8 years and love it. It took me a couple of days or so to get the hang of it but it helped having a guide for a brother and all his friends were guides too so I had lots of support
