The one thing I think made the difference was desire... and effort.
A prime example was that one rebound late when the game was still close by Prather. 6'6" standing in the middle of 4 of UK's players... 3 of which were much taller than he... and if you watch the slow motion, he literally jumped about 2' higher than the rest of their players and got that rebound... they were all tip toe rebounding.
Your right! That was some rebound; he literally out jumped the entire bunch...and if I remember correctly, they then fouled him to compound an already poor play. Yup; desire was definitely there and held us in the game and then, IMO, the better fitness program we have took its toll and they were unable to move their feet on defense sending Wilbekin to the line over and over. Think he made about 12 FT's in a row. All that FT practice Billy D. has them doing is starting to pay dividends. They also could not cover Wilbekin and Fraizer and they got some good looks at 3 pointers.
I was very impressed with our inside play of Praither, Yeguette, Finney-Smith and especially Young. Those guys battled a huge front line and held their own just fine. Doing that allowed Scottie Wilbekin to give point guard lessons to the Harrison twins and James Young....and to me that was THE difference in the game. Lets face it; a better point guard would have taken advantage of our lack of size along the base line. Randal was the guy we had no answer for and they did a poor job of getting him the ball. Did you see the slam he had with Wilbekin trying to cover? Good thing Scottie got the hell out of the way. LOL.
