DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brad Stuart will skate in the pregame warmups tonight before the team decides if he can play against the Calgary Flames at Joe Louis Arena (7 p.m., Fox Sports Net Detroit).
Stuart and Johan Franzen didn't skate this morning due to undisclosed injuries. Coach Mike Babcock said Franzen will be a game-time decision and that Patrick Eaves will be inserted into the lineup if Franzen can't play.
Franzen, however, said he definitely will play, despite a lower-body injury.
If Stuart can't play, Brendan Smith will replace him in the lineup. If Stuart plays, Smith will be sent down to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
“I expect Stuart and Franzen to play,'' coach Mike Babcock said.
Here is the Red Wings' lineup, assuming Franzen plays:
Franzen-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi
Filppula-Zetterberg-Cleary
Hudler-Helm-Abdelkader
Miller-Emmerton-Holmstrom
Eaves (scratched, unless Franzen is out)
Lidstrom-White
Kronwall-Stuart (or Smith)
Ericsson-Kindl
Commodore (scratched)
Howard (starting)
Conklin

I think Bert is a big fator in this one. The "nose for the net" dropped considerably with him out.
