I have this habit of associating days with the same events last year.

During the first Sunday of the playoffs, the last game on TNT usually has been a good/surprising game. Let's see if this continues.

2014: ? (Portland-Houston)

2013 (terrible):

Rockets 91
Thunder 120

2012 (good):

Memphis had a 27 point lead in the 3rd quarter, and lost.

Los Angeles Clippers
99
Memphis
98

2011 (good):

Nuggets 103
Thunder 107

2010 (good):

Trail Blazers 105

Suns 100

2009 (terrible):

Hornets 84
Nuggets 113

2008 (terrible):

Hawks 81
Celtics 104

2007: (good/surprising, was rooting for Dallas though)

Warriors 97
Mavericks 85

2006 (not remarkable):

Grizzlies 93
Mavericks 103

2005: (good):

Nuggets 93
Spurs 87

2004: I think it was Hornets-Heat. This was a good game, except for stupid Dwayne Wade hitting the GW over Baron Davis.

Hornets 79
Heat 81

2003:

I don't know. There were only 3 games scheduled on this day (5 on Saturday):

Magic-Pistons, 12:30 PM ET, April 20, 2003

Lakers-Timberwolves, 2:30 PM ET, April 20, 2003

Hornets-Philly, Coverage: CSN, 8:00 PM ET, April 20, 2003

I can't imagine TNT airing Hornets-Philly, given the choices. And ESPN says CSN aired it anyways. And I don't remember watching the game, only reading about it. Iverson scored 55, hit 10/11 FTs, 8 assists, 2 steals

Lakers-Timberwolves started too early. But maybe TNT still aired it, as an afternoon game.

There might not have been a Sunday Night game in 2003.

I'm a little unsure about 2004 too, but went with the aforementioned Hornets-Heat.

So 2005, might have been the earliest.

It worked. It's a memorable game.

So far, the good years have been 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014.

I wonder when the Jazz will have a 1st Sunday night TNT game, and have a special performance, to add to my collection of great playoffs games.

I think Kanter or Favors playing like Aldridge did, against a great player like Howard, in the playoffs, is still far away.

2024. Not because we won't make it until then but rather, we'll be a top seed and refuse Sunday home games ( Mormon owner, Mormon population) or we'll miss the playoffs. Or it'll be not a great memorable game.

So what would change in 2024?

Will the Jazz be a lower seed then?

Unfortunately, yes. Or maybe we had a playoff drought right before that and the best we could do was a lower seed. But before that we had a higher seed.

This wasn't the first Sunday night in the playoffs, but it was a good playoff memory: Stockton Solidifies Place in Pantheon - Los Angeles Times

Long, but good read, IMO. I think even Bull's fans could read it because they ended up winning the series. And most of them are literate.

I need to read it more thoroughly later.

But FYI, that was the 2nd Sunday night of the NBA Finals.

I think you just came up with a great new thread title! ("2nd Sunday night of the NBA Finals History").
