This team has the potential to win 9 games. That said, this schedule is brutal. We lose a few key players and it could flip and be 9 losses. We still don't have the depth to be able to lose players and keep chugging. It's getting better, but we're still a few classes away. The question for me is, do we have enough depth this year to take care of Iowa State and Kansas?
Last years team had that potential as well, MAC, WVU could have had wins against OU, TT, Texas, Kansas, and IAST without much of a stretch, They also had the potential to have had only one win, GAST, as OSU, TCU, and W&M could have turned into losses. Ive always heard it, but believe it more today, football is a game of inches, a fourth and short converted or not can make the difference in a game, and even the season. Look at 1996, WVU was highly ranked, undefeated, then lost to Miami on that blocked punt for a TD, the season ended 8-4, if that punt got through that could have been a great season, I went to the 'Cuse game the next week after that game and watched as punt after punt was blocked, the team was playing scared the rest of the season.
