Dennis Hickey, former Director of Play Personnel with the Bucs is the new Fins GM.

Unlike most fans and the local and national media, I will say nothing negative about him from his time in TB.

He will get a new start with the Fins and will have more to work with here than he did in TB.

Also, not worth talking about how disgruntled the Fins FO has been and how that turned off other candidates. Fact of the matter is, there are new faces around and a lot of positives to work with.

Either stay on the bandwagon for the ride or get the fuck off and dont come back… It is that easy.

I am glad the Dolphins passed on Xanders. Ex GM of Denver and current exec in Detroit in charge of the draft. Guy did a great job with the draft, Warford, Martin, UDFA Fauria and Waddle.

Who made the decision? Ross or does Miami have a Executive Director?

I believe Ross made the final call and I'm ok with it as I think that it's important to have a fresh face involved. Hopefully Gaine stays on as assistant GM and they pair up together. We'll see how Ross's structure works out I just hope he controls things enough so there is no in fighting. On another note giving ultimate power to one guy doesn't always work either if that guy screws up your pooched. I believe in working as a team two or three heads are always better than one....

Most expect Gaine to be on his way out there door and possibly will work under Ireland again if and when he lands a job elsewhere.

As to the question, for this occassion, Ross made the decision - How much of a say the GM has moving forward is still a question - But I do agree it has to be a team-effort and I believe it will be as such this time.

Philbin deserved an extra year, so if hiring a certain GM would have meant letting Philbin go, then im glad that GM didnt take the job.

Totally agree how can you judge Philbin with that poor Oline and Shermans ridiculous play calling? I'm glad Ross held his ground let the new GM earn his control.

If Cesario indeed want McDaniels no thanks he's too much of a loose cannon....

I'm excited about the future I think it's pretty clear what needs to be done here and success will follow.

I've been told that several Dolphins players have already privately expressed that they want out of this situation. Real consequences coming

Via Adam Beasley on twitter of the Miami Herald.

Something to note - though his quote says “ Ive been told” he names no source specifically or otherwise… so, i guess we can call it a rumor until then or hear the same from multiple reporters.

I believe that when the team starts making moves that show signs of wanting to win and when the team actually starts to win - all this talk will go away from players and fans alike.

Yes true right now some people are just spouting off as they want to see a splash. In reality this team doesn't need someone to come in here and blow everything up. That would happen with a power tripper. Stay the course fill the holes and kick some ass!

I like how Hickey is focused on winning at the line of scrimmage. That will help Tannehill & the running game. Hickey's Superbowl team in Tampa had a dominant DLine so I'm sure that he'll focus on that also.

Good point and that's exactly what this team needs good line play. If they can get that I'm confident that they'll make the playoffs....
