Wasn't Lewis hurt before the reimagine? I doubt Semien was ever realistic. A pipe dream in Dipoto's mind. White, ya that came during the reimagine, but was he a realistic prospect at that time? I mean offensively of course. Not picking sides, my memory just doesn't do timeframes very well any more.
He was a huge part of the rebuild as he was the first of Jerry’s guys to come up. He did jack his knees up in the minors, but he still was ROTY. Then White was suppose to be the next top stud to come up and we all saw how that worked out then he got hurt.

Semien was more than a realistic opportunity. IMO I think he was the only goal for that offseason and the one person Jerry actually named. Which was really weird cause I remember him naming Semien in the post season press conference but can’t remember but it seems like one of the next few days that he was on 710 and said JP is the SS so whoever they sign will have to move to 2B. Which he ended up doing.

I will fully admit I am overly harsh on my opinion of Jerry and that press conference really pissed me off. Stanton definitely needs blame but just my personal opinion is Jerry deserves more blame because I firmly believe he cost them the playoffs in 2021 and 2023 by being trading his closer.

Even .if .Castillo..threw..that last...game...
I'm not saying..that he did ..
The mariners..pitching.was tired...waining.
And just overall..threw...
And the..offence...
The same...
Changes .need .to.happen..
So..trades..may happen..while..
The playoffs are going..just not .
Advertised..

Last year I saw the Mets .do it..
When..the playoffs..were finished it said.
Backdated .

Who cares just do it..know.and predate.it

Lewis was ROTY in a shorten year and all stats were in his first month. If someone was building a future with him and his bad knees, then they need to be questioned even harder.

I guess I remember White differently (not saying Im right). I never thought of him being a building block, but it has been so long with him maybe I just forgot.

Semien was mentioned by Dipoto and I always thought that was BS. How many free agents has Dipoto mentioned? None. So to name him bak then I think it was total garb. He may have wanted him, but he was no way in on him at $175M. He probably offered minimum wage plus tips and then told all his report friends we were in on him. Never believed it, still don't.

We can question the sanity but Lewis was Jerry’s first pick, the first big prospect he graduated and even after his first major knee surgery they still brought him up as a CF. He was a big enough piece that Kelenic was moved to LF in Tacoma and Julio never played an inning in CF until last years spring training. It is all speculation on my part so I may be wrong but that is my entire theory on why I don’t think Jerry is the guy to finish the rebuild cause if someone were to build a robot that represents what baseball analytics are it would be Jerry.

I could be remembering the White thing wrong as well. But I do know he was the number 2 position prospect going into 2020 and his numbers were better than Raleigh’s and why I was more down on Raleigh when he got to Tacoma. And he was still thought highly enough that they went out of their way to let us all know he was taking reps in LF and RF once France had his 2021 where he should’ve won a gold glove. I am not trying to insinuate that he or Lewis were Julio level part of the rebuild. Just IMO those are the two guys that Jerry keeps pretending are here. Since the spring of 2021 Jerry has admitted they needed 1 more bat, but in reality he has needed 3. He has needed a 2B, COF and DH since those two got hurt/busted.

Semien was where Jerry coined his catch phrase of they made a competitive offer. Which I truly feel he did. If I were to guess they made him a really good offer, Boras came back with some ridiculous counter offer, Jerry came out and made the JP comments then Semien signed with Texas. It just makes no sense that Jerry would make a public statement that a .150 hitter is their starting SS unless there was some behind the scenes statement. Glad JP has developed the way he has, but he easily could’ve developed while moving to 2B not throwing shade at the 1 position that has had an abundance of top tier FA’s the past 2 seasons.

Seattle times...Matt Calkins.

Jerry depoto..draws ire of mariners fans.
But John Stanton..deserves scrutiny.

Ulmax

They started..the step.back.in 2019.
And it is only..almost..2024..
And they have been to the playoffs.once.
Barely..
And will be set.to go there again in 2024.

Just by those.numbers..i can tell.
You that seattle.fans...are way out in front.
Of most..rebuilds...
Already ..
Bringing .the minors..with pitching..
And know hitting..
To at least ..highA.for hitting..
With..locklear..young..windash..
Likely..at .AA...
Is were..I.would..say..seattles.hitting.
For the minores..is..for.the front.
Of.the wave .
And by .giving..Hernandez..QO..
You can see they want to keep it going.

Mariners.did not..make the playoffs.
But they.are..in good position..
For trades..and .a free agent..(116 mil.for 2024 by spotrac)
That .may likely..get them back..to.
The playoffs....

They do have .the ammo .for a few trades..
For the 1st..time.in..a.long.time..

Now..who..stanton....what's he have.to.do.
With all.that..i just..said .

If Castillo met his expectations then he doesn’t deserve his salary. Bryce Miller was the number 2 prospect in the Mariners system this year and Woo was top 10. All I was saying is if you are trying to use the excuse of a dude who has had 100 good games as a pro, an aging 3B who was a toss in piece in a trade at a 23 year old who hadn’t done anything you can use the same for Castillo, Miller and Woo. France has regressed badly since he made his all star team and Geno has had one good month as a Mariner to get his BA respectable. My point was you can’t build a roster of hopefully everything goes

Yeah I definitely disagree. I think Castillo had a great season pitching 200 plus innings, 200 plus strikeouts ERA under 3.5 if you want to say that he choked the final 2 starts of the season that is another story but in that case you can say the same for Julio going like 1-24 with 10 strikeouts since the astros series started. Kelenic was a top 10 prospect of all of baseball drafted in the 1st round and with almost 900 ABs he struck out 300x batting .200. I believe it our lineup was 22nd in the league in BA we would have won the division. The same core of the roster made the playoffs last year Cal should also have given equal criticism to the players that didn't perform like they did last season. Also to stop being emotional and kicking coolers breaking feet.

Oh my Gawd this is the best thing I have heard in decades. This is a must listen. LMAO!!!

I feel like most people will just pay attention to the dude getting louder and louder and louder. I can just imagine the vein popping out in his forehead.

That might make people overlook that he was stating one fact after another. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I’ve included Julio in my criticism on other threads. And I rebutting your claims that you said had Kelenic, Geno and France played to their ability they would’ve made the playoffs and countered it with Castillo, then tossed in Miller and Woo because trying to count on them as key pieces into a play off push is as foolish as trying to count on Geno, Kelenic or France. None of these three guys have proven they are key pieces.

Playing Moore, Haggerty, Caballero, Ford, No Closer and so on to me were the problems. Not to mention hanging on to Wong, La Stella and Pollock way too long.

The Haggerty and Caballero thing just bugs me because those two were so horrible at their jobs that they had to trade Sewald to upgrade the positions. Then somehow magically in September they became key pieces with whole the stupid lefty/righty split. I would also love to never seen Dylan Moore in the OF unless it’s out of necessity rather than see a starting lineup with him in LF/RF. Let him try him try to win the everyday 2B job

Pollack and Wong, I don’t think in Jerry’s worst nightmare he thought they could be as bad as they were. It would be nice to get him on record on why he held on so long. IMO Marlowe and DeLoach were ready, and Mason McCoy couldn’t have been any worse than Wong, so it’s not like we were asking him to burn the farm system down.

well I thought that we almost made the playoffs because the pitching staff did well and the lineup was what struggled. I haven't seen any posts from anyone on any pitchers that should be traded away.

I haven’t either. My post was just a rebuttal of you saying 3 guys who have no track record of being reliable should’ve done more.

How's it feel, Jerry Dipwad?
How does it feel to have to apologize for your statements?
Now you know what Cal Raleigh went through after what he said after the elimination...

Let this be a lesson to him and all team presidents: The last thing you want is to tell your fan base that you're expected to be mid for a decade.

But he gets no easy forgiveness from me. He's gonna have to prove himself now. Question is, where does he start?
