11 down 9 more to go!

Felix has had 5 consecutive starts giving up 2 runs or less. He has 11 starts this year giving up 1 run or less. Outside of a few bad starts...Felix has been the best Felix we've seen since his cy young year.

Now with an actual offense giving him some run support...I think there's a good chance he might get to 20.

Also rooting for Colon, Scherzer, Moore, etc to get rocked each time they start so Felix can bring home another Cy Young as well lol

I think that Cy Young voters would hesitate voting for Bartolo Colon with the PED suspension last year.

I'm hoping Felix gets as many wins as possible because for some ridiculous reason W/L is still taken seriously when it is a statistic that is mostly independent of the pitcher.

If the season ended right now it would probably be between Max Scherzer and Felix Hernandez. All biases aside I would take Felix in a heartbeat.

Felix has a decent chance at 20 especially with the offense playing at the level it is. I am hoping Felix stays the course and he should have a decent shot at the CY.

I think the difference between Felix getting 20 rests on the shoulders of the offense as a whole. If they can continue to play like actual major leaguers and spot him a run or 2 lead early in games he has a great shot. If he has to go back to holding the other team to under 1 run for 8 innings again, it will be business as usual.

These last 10+ games have been a big breath of fresh air, when even when we lose we score 6+ runs against a very good Red Sox team, and even wen we get shut down and manage 1 measly hit, we win 4-2 because we're doing the OBP thing right for once.

If Felix even got average run support over the last few years, he could have made a run at 20 wins a few times. The way the offense is playing now is very encouraging and I agree that they'll need to keep it going if he is to have a shot at doing it this year.

A little fun fact for you all...

Felix Hernandez has had...

3 starts in which he gave up only 1 earned run and received a no decision.
2 starts in which he gave up only 2 earned runs and received a no decision.

If Felix had decent run support in those games he could very easily be 16-4 right now.

Add that to the fluke game where we game him 7 runs and he gave them back, and 17-3 or 4 would be ridiculous. Living in hypotheticals though.

It's gonna be really hard for him to get there. He's got 12-13 more starts to get 9 wins. In his last 10 starts he's averaging nearly 7 innings per game, but only has 6 wins. He's had 3 starts of 7 innings with 2 or fewer runs and no decisions. The offense is gonna have to give him better runs support in all his games here on out, or he won't have a chance.

W/L is about the most meaningless stat for a pitcher, IMO.

Most other pitching stats involve only the pitcher's performance against opposing hitters.

50% of W/L involves the performance of the pitcher's own offense.

If Felix keeps pitching the way he has been, it will be magnificent, no matter the W/L record.

Exactly why W/L is an unimportant stat.

It's getting to the point where I think it's stupid to watch this team. It's like continually buying a product that you know is crap that the manufacturers just threw together and does nothing but cause you discomfort. Fuck this thrown together roster crap. And nothing is going to change until they completely turn over the FO. Z sucks.

His failure to convert a perfect game right at the very end showed that he fit right in with the Rangers of the 2010s.

If I was Felix I would ask to be traded after this season. How many blown games does he have to sit through by the relief staff ( if you call it that). We should of traded the bartender for some cotton candy at least someone would of enjoyed that

Felix is having the time of his life, why would he want to go anywhere else? 25 mil/year, beloved by the fans with barely any media scrutiny (even though there really is nothing to scrutinize). This team will eventually compete and he knows it.

I agree with the bartender. I'm a firm believer in you can find a reliever anywhere, when you have somebody that dominates for maybe a year or so you trade his ass.
