It's showing up on Twitter right now that the Devils have signed him to a 2 year deal worth 2.6 million

sounds like it 1.2 in the first year then 1.4 in the second... that is one hell of a bargin deal for Fayne, whom I expected to make upwards of 2 million per season.

That's a really amazing bargain.

Played every single game this season. Almost 20 points with no PP time. Low penalty total, averaging 20 minutes a game.

'Golf gallery level applause' Good, but once again he is not addressing the primary need for this team and looking at the FA pool it does not appear he will so expect a non-playoff year.

I think regardless if we sign another player or not this team is a playoff team. It's a good signing and just means we have a ton of depth on D which is never a bad thing.

The FA class is pretty weak. Doan doesn't help us get younger and Semin could be interesting but the fact he's received practically no interest from anybody makes me think he is a problem.

With 8 guys signed on D and our top 4 or 5 prospects all being on D I see us making a trade at some point. Maybe not this offseason, maybe early in the season or maybe at the deadline but I think we have some valuable pieces we could trade with. 6 months from now guys may become available that we didn't know were available and the free agent class next year is crazy so we'll see what happens.

Fayne has grown on me. I hated the guy but he has improved. He's still prone to mental breakdowns at the worst possible times, but if he can reduce more than he already has he can be a legit top 4 guy for sure.

Volch and Tallinder were mid-tier. Rolston was in high demand when we signed him, but he was also mid tier. Same with Zubrus. That's all I can think of recently.

Also, I think the most intriguing thing is what happens now with the D corps? Are we really going into next season with Zids, Tallinder, Volch, Greene, Fayne, Salvador, Larsson and Harrold?

Lou has shown that he's more willing to unblock our better prospects path to the bigs. I smell a trade.

Disagree, this is a playoff team as it stands. I think we need to improve to have a legit cup shot though

How long it can take for Lou to improve this roster?

Totally agree. With 8 on board and a stud prospect (Jon Merrill) in the wings I can definetly see Lou packaging some D men for trade bait either now or closer to th edeadline
