As much as I hated seeing Canada win the gold...you can't deny that they deserved it more. It's hockey...and there were very few people in the US who cared. How many of those "reaction" videos are there of the GWG? Tons. How many are there for the GTG? Few. I wish someone had video taped me though, I was freaking out....

I could care less if Hockey is "the sport" north of the border, there are passionate fans here in the states that were ready for some gold. Especially with Miller and the rest of the U.S. squad going through every other game flawless with a nice 0 in the loss column. Nobody deserved the win... And FUCK SIDNEY CROSBY. that gold medal was for the taking in that game. both teams fought desperate to win. canada just wanted it more and got it. we deserved to win because well we won .

just as if the US won they would have deserved to win it. but um they didnt

I view this goal as a terrible ending to the game. Not that I'm saying Canada shouldn't have won or anything. It's just... not a great goal. It's a bad angle shot that our D was out of position on. Don't get me wrong, if Crosby had deked three guys or been in the right spot for a rebound after some aggressive forechecking by his team or even just beaten Miller with a shot off the rush, great. Instead, it's like the U.S. D went to sleep and I still can't for the life of me figure out how the shot went in. Was it 5 hole or short side? I haven't found a good camera angle, for some reason - the official broadcast did a terrible job of tracking the puck.

Either way, in overtime in the gold medal game, I was hoping for a gold medal goal. Something with speed or power or skill or tenacity (Like Parise's goal!). Instead we got Crosby sort of strolling up and scoring. Okay, I guess. We lost, I get it. But if we got beaten, I wanted it to be off something spectacular. Perhaps the best way to explain it is that that goal reminds me of the overtime goal in the game 6 finals last year. In both instances, my first thought was, "What just happened," but not in an "I'm shocked we lost" sense. No, my "What just happened" was in a "No, seriously, what just happened, how the @%^# did they score there" sense.

I think Sid scoring took the edge off of it a bit for me. And I completely agree that the US had tons of passionate fans ready for a win. Lets just say I was the ONLY person on my campus who gave a rats ass, but I guarantee you that if the US had won everyone would've pretended that they had watched the entire game and tournament with bated breath, hoping and praying for victory.

It is tough...because seriously every OT goal becomes a "favorite" goal, merely because of the awesomeness of the stage it was scored on.
