The rain doesn't affect the claycourts in a big way as it does HARDCOURTS. They all need roofs to minimize the delay in scheduling.
No slam should go to a fifteenth day. There is no need. USO Main draw and qualifying is no bigger than other slams.
You're making a big deal out of something that was in place for many years? 3 or 4? They just started scheduling the men's finals on Monday 2-3 years ago. Other times it was moved to Monday because of weather.
Anyway all the GS are in the process of major renovations with Aussie renovations being ready for 2015 Aussie Open, French Open renovations will be done in 2017, while the US Open complete renovation will be done in 2018 but the changes start next year as the new grandstand court will be up and running, and Wimbledon complete renovations will be done in 2019.
