The rain doesn't affect the claycourts in a big way as it does HARDCOURTS. They all need roofs to minimize the delay in scheduling.

No slam should go to a fifteenth day. There is no need. USO Main draw and qualifying is no bigger than other slams.

You're making a big deal out of something that was in place for many years? 3 or 4? They just started scheduling the men's finals on Monday 2-3 years ago. Other times it was moved to Monday because of weather.

Anyway all the GS are in the process of major renovations with Aussie renovations being ready for 2015 Aussie Open, French Open renovations will be done in 2017, while the US Open complete renovation will be done in 2018 but the changes start next year as the new grandstand court will be up and running, and Wimbledon complete renovations will be done in 2019.

Yeah, I still think Wimby is the best slam followed by usopen, French and then Aussie open.
I think even the year end masters cup is in some ways bigger than Aussie open. Aussie just has so less charm.

Probably because it's so early in the season. They play what one tournament into the year before they're at the Aussie open?

I thought I responded to this thread a few years ago.

Maybe my post was in another thread, about the favorite major.

My answer has been the Australian Open, and it's still true after this year.

I think it has the best matches. I've felt that way since 2012.

What is your favorite Grand Slam?

I'm biased.....I love hard court tennis and I'm born and raised in NYC so you already know that the US Open is at the top of my list.

1) US Open
2) Aussie Open
3) Wimbledon
4) French Open

List still remains the same. I must admit I like the French a little more than I did at the time of this thread. If I wasn't biased due to living in NYC, I honestly think the Aussie Open would be my favorite.

I feel like this would be a good thread if it had a poll.

In order, mine are:

1.) French Open
2.) Wimbledon
3.) US Open
4.) Aussie Open

In terms of just Slams, the Aussie and US Open get deducted before they are the same surface. With French and Wimbledon being different, I find them more unique.

I have always been partial to the French Open, and was even lucky enough to go to some matches there a few years ago.

Haha - Well, I gave my reasoning. I love the US Open because it's on our soil and the time it's on is better for me, but the surface just isn't my favorite.

To me, nothing beats Nadal sliding around on the clay. Just unreal...

What year?

What matches did you see?

What did you think?

Gosh - it was probably 10 or so years ago. When to go see some matches with players I wasn't aware of (this was just at the start of my love of tennis), but the atmosphere was absolutely amazing.

How many days did you go? How many matches do you think you saw?

Did they have any unique concessions (either food/drink or souvenir item)?

We went 2 days during the week. Nothing really stands out except that I had already loved France before going, and that's when I fell in love with the art of sliding on clay.

Were there any beers or wines that you liked and you discovered during your France trip?
