I'm sure this thread is already out there somewhere, but I don't feel like looking for it so fuck it. Name your favorite band and post your favorite song or a few by them.

Also has probably my favorite guitar solo in it.

Song about their drummer that just died.

I don't think I can pick a favorite. I was exposed to so many different types of music from the mid-60s through the mid-70s it just isn't possible. One day it could be Pink Floyd, the next Black Sabbath, then Marshall Tucker or Blood, Sweat and Tears. Just too many likes to settle for just one.

Alice In Chains. I can't seem to post videos from my iPhone but there are too many songs that I like. I couldn't list just a few.

Gotta agree with Sooner here. I grew up in the 80's but had 2 older sisters so I had the 70's influence as well. If we narrowed things down to a specific genre maybe I could list one or two, but overall I can't say I have one favorite.

I’ve loved rock & roll since growing up as a child of the 70’s. Very hard to chose one single band, but I firmly believe there were only two significant decades of rock, the 70’s and the 90’s. Loved the grunge / alt rock music and many of my favorite all time bands come from that era, AIC, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction, etc. From the 70’s I’d have to say The Eagles would be my top choice, but it’s very close with Led Zeppelin, and The Who.

Not to start an argument but the 60's really set the stage for the 70s. Groups like Steppenwolf, Cream, Iron Butterfly and others laid the ground work for what was to come in the 70's.

Yeah, I know. I almost stopped myself and wanted to say “my apologies to the 60’s”. You’re correct. I guess it’s a matter of perspective for all of us and mine is being a teenager in the early - mid 70’s. I think we can probably agree that the 80’s pretty much blew donkey. There might have been a few gems here and there, but overall it was shit. I loved the grunge scene when it came along, a breath of fresh air and the final destruction of the god-awful hair bands. It’s really sad nowadays however. I mean really really sad, I think rock might actually be dead. :bawling:

I spent the 80's buying everything I already had on vinyl on the newfangled CD format. I might have bought a dozen new albums in the 80s.

Okay I forgot a very important band in my opinion. Skynyrd. Most people relate to them thru “Sweet Home Alabama” or “Free Bird”, which sucks. Not bad songs, but cot damned overplayed. Sort thru the stuff you never heard on the radio or maybe only heard a couple of times, and you’ll fall back in love with them. What a talented group.

Another one of my all time favs is Nirvana. I know a lot of people don't like them, but I'll never understand it.
