I know speed is not the main thing that makes a player great but I was wondering who you thought was the fasted guy in the NFL right now in the 40 yard dash?

Straight line speed, in under Armour? Probably Marquis Goodwin.
Speed on a football field, with pads on and requiring a change in direction (or two)?
Tavon Austin.

Highly doubt Chris Johnson and Jamaal Charles could duplicate their combine numbers today.

I disagree! CJ can run up to the line of scrimmage and collapse faster than anyone who's ever played the game. He only gets faster with age. He needs 120 yards over the last 2 games to make 1000 so you watch, he'll go on a tear Sunday. Titans fans already know it. :frusty:

LOL.

I would pay to see a footrace between Peyton and Sebastien Janikowski. How funny would that be? We have to look at kickers and defensive tackles to find a match for Peyton.

I think I'm going to agree on the young Buffalo Bill M. Goodwin. He can flat out fly down the field. If you cut it down to 15 or 20 yards, I think Tavon might have him beat.

No way CJ or Charles are near as fast as they were at the combine. Older + heavier = slower. They should weigh more from bulking up to take NFL hits compared to rookie seasons.

Nice options all but the guy who has impressed me with his break away speed this year has been Gordon. Not gonna look up his 40 times but in the last 4 weeks he has taken 2 short crossing routes to the house and on each of them I thought he would get caught but just kept seperating. Patterson is another fast SOB along with Austin.

Hi Foot. I know speed is quality that you look at when evaluating players, so let me tell you a story.

When Brian Bosworth was about to come into the NFL, he drew a lot of comparisons to Dick Butkus. He even won the Butkus Award twice in college.

And I remember someone in the media asking Butkus about all of these measurable comparisons from their college stats. And Butkus' answer was classic. He said, "They can't measure what's in my heart."
