I almost called him Chris...

Pats kicked the tires on him last yr. I hope they get it done. He would add some nice depth and talent to this DL (former 1st rd pick). He could also replace Branch next yr if he moves on. Adding Farley would also mean NE can wait till the 3rd rd to draft another DT if one falls. Man that DL would be nice. Brown, Branch, Dom Eas, Jones, Farley, and the other guy....LOL.

Get it done Bill, maybe Long can recruit him.

I think he would be a decent to good signing. I was hoping the Broncos would kick the tires and have him join the rotation to replace Malik this year. Injuries are definitely there and there is some concern about his desire to work hard but when you get him motivated he is force to be reckoned with. He does fit what BB has done this off season of bringing in ex-1st round picks and seeing if he can help them show why they were considered such a talent.

Yep, I have to admit I like what BB is doing. If he can get just a couple of these gambles to pay off the Pats could be sitting pretty. BB has a way of resurecting careers. Still a long way to go till they get down to 53. I wonder how many of these former first rounders will be on the team week 1?

Although Miguel has not had the chance to update the Patriots' salary cap to reflect the impact of signing Long and McClellan, I roughed out an amount of about $7.5M under the cap. BB will need to free up more space, especially if he intends to offer Fairley a contract. Time to consider what to do with Dola and Cannon. Trading or cutting them will probably free up about $6M. Being out here in NE Ohio, I can say that the Browns are a likely trading partner. At WR, they lost Travis Benjamin and Josh Gordon is not really being counted on this season, if ever. A solid possession receiver would be one of their needs. Also, losing two of their starting O linemen and trying to trade Joe Thomas leaves them thin there as well. Perhaps trading both Dola and Cannon for a draft choice (possibly a 4th rounder) might be possible. BB would probably sign Nate Washington if Dola left. At RB, Blount is about the best choice left and maybe a vet minimum one year deal with incentives might work.

Shitty year not to have a 1st round pick. E. Elliott for sure going between 20 and 30 is my guess. Derrick Henry who I like better from Alabama could go late 1st or 2nd? Not sure BB would go that high on a RB but he would be a nice addition. Power runner with speed, more of a one move and be gone guy. Put him with the human jumping bean of Lewis that would be a nice combo.

I think he would be a great fit in NE. The are constantly rotating guys on that DL. Looks what they did for Hicks. I believe the same was said about Hicks before coming to NE. Winning sparks a fire and playing in Det, then Stl, I would be lazy and uninterested also....I think it would be a 1yr deal also. I think NE drabs a few DT in this draft for next yr.

Ya know, it sucks losing the 1st rd pick, but from what I am hearing, this is the year to lose it. After the Top 10 guys, there is a significant drop off in talent. OL/WR/RB are not that deep this yr, next yr the RB class is loaded!!! DT is loaded this yr, and DE is pretty good too. I think the rush on OL/WR/RB in this draft is going to force some damn good players to drop, esp DL. It happens every yr. I think NE draft this yr, is being done in FA. I think NE will be able to grab a RB this yr, they have what it takes to move up to the top of the 2nd rd (Henry).

I'm not sure BB will use a high draft pick on a RB. Too many potential injuries and short careers in most cases. I hope I'm wrong and you're right? Time will tell. Sure would be nice entertainment wise for us fans to actually hit on a high draft play maker. But who can argue with BBs success?

I think you have the wrong school. Kenneth Dixon played for LA Tech. Unless you are talking about the great RB from LSU Leonard Fournette but he is not in this draft and is likely a top-10 pick if he stays healthy this next year.

Now Dixon is a very good RB in this draft but right now he is slotted to go in the 2nd round by most draft boards. So unless something crazy happens I doubt he makes it to the 3rd round pick.

I know they experts say 2nd round but that's too high for my liking. 3rd round I take him. He's a little small for what I feel the Pats need? They already have Lewis barring any mishaps in his rehab? Dixon already has a lot of wear and tear on him. Pats needs a bruiser that can block and run wheel routes. He doesn't need to be a 1500 yard guy. Maybe a Jordan Howard from IN? Didn't get a lot of catches with that style offense but shows he has the ability to run routes and hold onto the ball.
I like CJ Prosise from ND late in the 4th. Smart kid who played WR and CB before becoming a RB. He's also a ST guy. BB loves these kinds of players.

Small...6'0 222?? LOL...damn man what is your def of not "small". Kid is a good fit for this team. He has been very good in the combine and interviews. He will not make it to the 3rd. IF NE continues to build up their DL and CB/S via FA, I can see them looking for offensive guys this yr.

That remark was about Dixon who is 5'-10" and 215 on a good day. For a bruising type RB I want them 220 at a minimum. We already have a shifty back in Lewis. Experts say his build won't support bulking up, he's also had injuries plus a lot of miles.
But I hope you're right about offensive guys this year. Not sexy but need to start building the Oline as well

All reports are that he is up to 222 now, and have him listed at 6'0. What I have read is he is not a shifty back, but a North/South guy who is not afraid of contact. Does not have break away speed and can be caught from behind. He can also catch the ball out of the backfield. He kind of reminds me of Fred Jackson, but younger of course.Imagine this kid at 222.

I agree with your comments, I pulled his ht/wt from the combine.

It is a bit high for my liking as well. He does have some major fumbling issues and well I do think that might be why BB stays away from this kid. I know that can be worked on and such but I think BB would watch the tape and cringe with how this kid carries the ball. He has talent for sure but there are some things that would need major correcting if he is to even think about becoming an every down RB in the NFL.

Jordan Howard would be a better choice based on ball security but he is a marginal receiver and blocker. CJ Procise is also a possibility. He is a former receiver but has some fumbling issues. Also noticed that Pot Roast (Terrance Knighton) is coming in for a visit.
