Phil did say we were going to get younger on D. He never said we'd be better .
I like the Houston signing. A big DE. Along with Rattlif & Collins. He's piecing this D back together.
Also like the the safety they signed. Would have preferred Delmas as our starting strong safety though.
So what do we still need? By my count 2 DEs , 1 DT, 1 CB , & 1 free safety.

I know... but I like it. It's new... it's interesting... and it can't get any worse than last year. So, fuck it.

IMO, if Phil can pull this off within two off-seasons, I'm looking forward to going along for the ride with this defense. It's a project. A big project. Watching it be pieced together little by little will be fun. Especially since we're so safe with our 11 starters returning from a GREAT season on the other side of the ball. It really just allows us as fans just to zero in on this D. Watch it grow.

You have to find young guys and mold them to suit your D. We cant expect rebuild and sign a bunch of over paid free agents. Draft draft draft. Its way important than what they do in free agency in my opinion. with the exception of releasing the old dead weight.

Dont know why we didnt wait til june 1, other than to allow Peppers a shot at catching on someplace so they could split the last 8 million, now it all goes on this years cap. Well, I guess they just move some of Cutlers down til next year and its no big deal.

Conte will have to fight for that starting spot and Major Wright is as good as gone, so I like the signing. If nothing else, it's competition. Our two safeties played pretty bad last year, so something needed to be done.

We're used to poor safety play since Buddy Ryan left as a DC.
Major Wright our current fill in @ strong safety is a FA, not currently wanted back.
Anything (being Mundy) would be an upgrade.
