While most of us are either in full smile or cautious grin mode, there is a group of people who must be feeling quite ill at ease with this hire. So, who are these people Sty? Well, in a word (or two)......the players. A great number of them cannot be happy with this move, and will find themselves in coming days and weeks having to make decisions about their futures.
A new look at the current roster, on day two of the McGloughin era, shows that there are far too many who will be moving on than staying. I have listed possible candidate categories below, who, based on the McGloughin edict, no longer fit into the new vision that defines Washington Football.
1. Aging veterans
2. unproductive or misfit free agents from other teams
3. Players who have become career injured list enrollees.
4. Smaller (in stature) players
5. Poor attitude/working regimented guys
6. Roster fillers/ serviceable players
7. Misfit draftees
8. Tradable candidates
I'm fairly sure that I've missed a category or two, but honestly by my count there are probably 8 -10 current player who will still be around to enjoy the resurgence of DC's entry into what once was the most feared division in all of pro football, the NFC East.
My expectation is that this off season we'll see the most active free agent involvement in Scot McGloughin's career. It will also be his last...... because as he's declared time and again, "You build through the draft." That statement alone, is enough for many current players, to begin having sleepless/restless nights.
