LOL>>>> Faine better than Cook...I will take a 10yr vet who has played in a Pro Bowl started 15 or 16 games knows the AFC North and has played with Jay before... Mike needs to MAKE SURE he doesnt leave without a contract..

The only reason we didint look at Faine up to this point is because we have 14 million invested to Cook.....Now that he will be shleved this is a PERFECT replacement..

Give them a few games and we will be fine...Plus Andy has a quick release so we will see many move the pocket plays at the start of the season....

So, you're saying that undrafted players can't play? I'd bet there are a few NFL guys out there who would disagree with that sentiment.

Benson was also not in his 10th+ year. Faine is old. Not to say that he won't be better than cook, but you're asking a lot of out of a guy who plays one of the most demanding positions in the game. Now, all the line calls that cook made will fall to Dalton. That's more pressure on Andy to get things called right.

It's a big loss, even if you don't like him overall as a player. Center is one position on the OL that, I bet, teams would never want to see their starter injured. There's so much involved that goes beyond just blocking.

According to Marvin, 25% of NFL players are undrafted.

remember how the s**** hit the fan when we lost Braham. It could be like that, whether Faine has the experience or not.

This whole team has more holes than a colander at a swiss cheese factory.
Its a pretty routine habit for fans to get excited at the start of any NFL season, I've been there, done that. My disappointment is starting early this season.

AJ green is good for some excitement, other than that, we're hosed.

Now all of the talent we have is garbage?? Gresham, BGE, Lee (Dropped an Andy Dalton pass vs GB) Orson, Tate, Binns, Sanu and JOnes??? Andy needs to spread the ball around...If Andy is smart enough he can make the calls and get people lined up....SHOW THE WORLD He can do it....When Scott returns we will be even better...too much is being put on the Center position when you have a good QB behind him..Put a Vet center in place and lets go...As stated before If Im wrong and we're getting blown out and giving up 5 sacks a game then I will eat my crow....until then I can stand along it is what it is..

I don't think it's a HUGE loss (was just bustin' balls on ya Jwil) but I do think that it is a loss that will take awhile to recover from.

On the OL, I believe the C is the most critical position. Mostly because in most offenses, they are responsible for making the line calls and adjustment to blocking. With having a young QB, that responsibility will shift to Dalton, who will have to work a little harder to make sure the protection calls are right for the playing being ran. I'm sure he can do it (he's damn smart) but it's still a lot to ask out of a 2nd year guy.

Cook wasn't "great" as a blocker, but he did know the calls and, wasn't all too bad of a blocker (though he did get pushed back his fair share of times).

We'll see how it plays out, but losing any starter a week before the season is never good.

We're the Bengals, we keep our best talent on the bench because they don't know the playbook.

to hell with it, we lose to the dolphins and the browns. 0-16
this team depresses the shit out of me.

That week one matchup with Haloti Ngata is going to be fun. Ravens 31-7.

Haloti is playing over weight and is slightly injured who's to say he will be 100%.....Also Im reading we may trade for a center...So what team out there will trade a starting center 2 weeks before the season starts??????????? Sign the damn guy and lets get him up to speed...he is the best option out there...if we cant get a starting center in a trade then he should be the 1 blocking Gnata's big Ass on Monday night!

If it were THAT easy, then why do we all STILL miss Braham so much?

Apparently (per Reedy), Faine graded out as the 4th worst run blocker in the league last year. Good thing we have awesome running backs.

They'll probably just resign Mike McGlynn when the Colts inevitably cut him..
