dean i didnt say he was on the hot seat , i said he "could be gone " and it could be for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with his record , he could die , he could get cancer again , a family tragedy , a fight with snyder , etc .

my life lessons have taught me that nothing is forever , things change , and hitching your wagon to one guy is foolish .

life happens in football

if tmac and allen think this can turn around then fine but they got market value contracts as their 5th and 7th highest paid contracts and their ranking of at least 5th or 7th ( top ten ) players at their positions suggests

you need to stop jumping to conclusions and conflating 2 separate issues

you dont have to be in the hot seat to be gone hence why i never said hot seat

Oh cmon now. You are citing health reasons when we are talking about football. Yo u can say that about anybody with health issues. Im not jumping to conclusions. I get disagreement when I defend RR. I hope he gets his 5 years here.

you still have no answer on why allen and tmac resigned here if the organization is so toxic. fan vase bleeding is about winning and its very obvious. Most fans went to the Ravens b/c of it.

That's a bad example Dean. Players are in a totally different situation than fans. Where they work is where they live. Switching teams is not as simple as watching Chanel 45 instead of Chanel 5, it requires moving, taking kids out of their school and away from friends and so much more.

We have known how bad Daniel Snyder is for some time. For decades I did as you are doing, tried my best to overlook the obvious and strictly focus on football. As I said seeing this clown cheer after a TD did take some of the joy out of it but I could overcome that.

But everyone has a tipping point. Mine started a few years ago, the coverup and intimidation of the victims was the final straw for me.

That fine. You have you own opinion. im just saying the captains must like something here if they resigned long term deals.

again if you dont know what i mean by expansion team i cant help you , both are new teams with their histories gone i dont care who plays for them its immaterial

You really need to drop this. You have explained YOUR definition of how you consider the Commanders an expansion team. It has already been show that this is not the definition of an expansion team in anyone else's world.

Why did Mike Trout resign with the Angels when they have not won a thing and he could have picked his new destination at the same rate? Why did players resign with the Cleveland Browns with all their losing and dysfunction? Players often chose to stay where they are for a variety of very good reasons.

True, but I was told we are the worst place on earth to play and players should be trying to get out of here at all costs. They have to like something about the team to stay

i am at best luke warm on him as a HC and i think he isnt good as a GM . i dont like how he handled situations like the name change ( his puppy) his views on things . the coaching on the field isnt good with slow reactions to what is going on and he wasnt what i expected as a coach . now thats balanced with what he inherited , the toxic team culture and the fact he wasnt healthy

I'm not really sure what you are doing. Are you claiming that this was not a toxic environment?

Well you're certainly free to call them anything you want. But you shouldn't get all butt hurt and argumentative when people point out that your definition is unique to only you.

now back to the thread topic . looks like a grandstand i hope the committee calls him on
A guy on the radio pointed out that these are the last 2 days Congress is in session. This appears to be Dan and his lawyer's flaunting the subpoena. I hope they call his bluff and make room on the schedule to have him actually testify, that would be must see TV

I am not sure what he is stating either.

I quoted Roger Goodell himself. I will further refer to almost 100 employees who have come forward in some shape or form to testify to the environment that was created.

From an NFL perspective, yes, this is literally the worst place to play from an environment/culture perspective. Does this matter to all NFL players, no it does not. There are several reasons why a player would choose to stay with his/her team. I will say again, I cannot understand why a player would resign here, but that is my opinion. I NEVER said players will never sign here again. I am confused by TMac's signing given that he has a poor QB, poor OC, and the worst culture in the NFL. That is simply my opinion.

Does this matter to all the fans, no it clearly does not. However, several posters here have indicated that it has taken a toll on them. I for one and waiting and hoping the NFL removes Snyder. If not, I am gone.

I think that is the point of contention here: are the football team and organization related and if so, how much so?

If you simply ignore Snyder and the front office, and solely concentrate on the game score, then it does not matter WHO runs the team or what happens at the headquarters. I do not have blinders on and cannot ignore what has happened. The NFL is a business and the Commanders are business as well. Fans forget that sometimes as they are too emotionally involved. I tried to explain that concept and was told it was "non-sense".

In our case though, the product on the field has been just as a disaster as on the field.

It literally is like nothing ever seen before. I wish the entire fan base would go dormant until he leaves. We deserve better.
This is my opinion, but I cannot separate the on-field and off-field product like other fans. I told someone at the gym the other day I was a Commanders fan and he laughed and said "I'm sorry".

We are the laughing stock of the NFL and we should demand change. I hope this is it and that the owners have had enough.

So much to cover. duke, good luck with Green Bay, I don't think Snyder is going anywhere. For some years now I have divided my fanhood. Primarily to guys who were Redskins and let go and probably treated poorly. I always root for Penn State kids no matter who they play for.

I am not going to retell stories I have told before other than to say I have known Dan Snyder was not a nice man for a long time.

We have known since his earliest days he was not a good owner. We hoped over and over that next coach would change the culture.

We knew he had a penchant for suing people and just being an all around turd. We did not know about the sex abuse and harassment. The things we have heard the past two years have been overboard. It makes it hard to separate the team/game from the owner.

Some of us long, long time fans keep hoping something will happen to give us back our team. Even the not so good 60s teams with Sonny, Sam, Hanburger, Charley and Bobby were loved. We want to hear our fight song and remember Sundays with so many football players from the 70s and 80s.

Washington is not like any other city. This is a city of transients who come to work for the government but it was loved by the fans it had. Those fans, like me are now in their 60s and older for the most part. Young people only know Washington as a bad organization.

I will always root for Washington but I will continue to share my fandom with other players and teams. I do not think I will ever see another SB team. The organization rots from the head down and we know who that stinking head is.

I came into the fandom during the Golden Years per se. I remember Jay Schroeder as the QB of the first Skins game I watched. I have Christmas pictures of me getting sweatshirts and jerseys. I wore my Art Monk jersey until I outgrew it. I had posters of Doug Williams and Mark Rypien on my wall. ITs been a while, but I swore we made the playoffs each year. My hero was Earnest Byner growning up.

I had no clue about Snyder to be honest. He seemed like he loved the team and wanted to win. I got caught up in his bonanza of being the GM and I looked forward to the start of free agency each year. I loved bringing in all the players on the contracts. Somehow I thought we would win with proven talent. I was wrong.

I remember arguing with Goldy on the ESPN boards and fighting the trolls during the draft and free agency. TexRich, Eastbay, Asbestos, Earl Stevens, etc. I remember Gkeoka and Skinsdad, Shark, and numerous other fans posting as well. Fun times indeed...lol

I bought in to Gibbs 2.0 and thought we would turn it around. I never got on board with Zorn but I believed in Shanahan. I wanted us to be Denver 2.0. RG3 broke my heart and then the Gruden years came and went. When we hired Rivera, I knew something was wrong. I did not want the coach to also be the GM as it never works. I have been overly vocal about his tenure and have complained quite a bit obviously. Probably too much.

Then the news broke last year and that was another strike. I found it embarrassing to talk about the team to others. I had had enough of Snyder and was hoping that would be it, but it wasn't. Over the past 12 months, it has simply gotten worse and worse. I thought it would be enough for him to get the Donald Stirling treatment, but I was wrong. The latest round of testimonies was the final nail that was started on the coffin. After Goodell's testimony and additional allegations/witnesses, I made the decision that if Snyder was not removed in the near future, I would be gone. I believe that there is more to come and hope it will be the tipping point but I have my doubt. I am still holding out that the owners make a motion for dismissal. I doubt it happens but we can still hope.
