i do not agree with stymie's position on what we should or could have done with RG3 . i will say it is a valid view point for sure and very reasonable

how we go to race with that i dont get and to be honest it isnt fair to stymie at all

none of his reasons which he has expressed over and over again have to do with race

Do you really think there is hatred. I think more folks think about the waste caused by the trade. Hopes and dreams dashed.

I think the kid was given plenty of chances. He didn't have the skills. You can't trade 4 draft picks and expect the kid to sit on the bench for three years. The Shanahan's only did what was needed to make it work at all. Griffin was terrible his first preseason and clearly out-played by Cousins. What we didn't know was the coaching staff had a ace up their sleeve. After the season started I thought and wrote on this forum more than once if they can keep this offense going while Griffin learns to play in a pro-style offense then I was dead wrong about the trade.

Insert injury story/version here, Robert no longer wanted to be that type of QB. What were the Skins supposed to do, the kid had no pro-style skills. I have serious doubt that he ever learns the position. My reasoning, if you could take any guy with a great arm and teach him the skills there would be a lot more good QBs in the NFL.

I don't hate Griffin, I am just glad the team moved on. It wasn't working and I did not see any scenario in which it would work. I don't think anyone is a victim here. I think all sides were equally responsible.

Worst case scenario is Griffin will have been paid $25 million at the end of this year. Can't feel bad for Cousins either. Comparatively he didn't make much the first 4 years but he is working on catching up fast after this year.

I stand corrected, Hatred is a very harsh charge to place on my fellow posters. We must admit though that Griffin has taken the brunt of the vitriolic posts on this site. Unfairly so because IMHO the only option at his disposal was none. So he did his own thing without fear of reprisal from anyone in charge.

Sportster, man you could not have summed things up better when you wrote..."I think the kid was given plenty of chances. He didn't have the skills." or put another way, what chance did the kid have? He didn't have the skills!!

Shark had it right, don't do the deal in the first place, but since they did, let me ask you, who's responsibility was it, to do due diligence to reassure the organization that making that trade was the proper thing to do?
Further, once the deal was done, and the realization finally hit them that he lacked these skills, what was the best option to realize maximum return on this seemingly bad investment? They had options!!! What if they had started Kirk then, since he clearly outplayed Him? I could be wrong, but best players play, right?

At my core, there is nothing that could convince me that SM would have made this trade, and that tells us all that we need to know about the state of our team and organization looking back. Kirk's in the hot seat now, let's all be cautiously optimistic about his time here!!

Sty I believe trading up to number 2 was a Dan move. It is why I will never trust that all is well in Reston. I believe signing Cousins was Shanahan's insurance policy. I think it is why 3 years of goofiness ensued.

I think it is a Catch 22 after that. Robert had so much success that people became big fans of his. I also am not sure Cousins was ready to play in season two. Witness your time to learn theory.

If you want to find blame it was as you like to say the adults, at the same time the kids didn't help anything along. This same scenario has played out many times. Frerotte, starter to lifelong backup. We can find other guys who were the same. Shuler, early round bust. Injury probably saved him a lot of scrutiny. Sadly a fortune was given up for Griffin, so he will always be judged in a harsh light.
