You know what man, going into this game I don't think that we could literally find one person that didn't believe that this was a big time opportunity for Kirk to step up his game. Maybe you're right when you say that Gruden may be keeping tight reins on him. At some point the young man is going to have to be let loose. How long can it be reasonable to keep using, "well he still has ( insert number here) games to prove himself? There are now only 4 of those left and if Gruden is indeed not allowing him to ball out he's at the point where one of two things are apparent.
1. He's doing an incredible disservice to the young man
.......................OR.................

2. There's nothing more to him than what's been shown.

Oh, I agree. And regardless who is ultimately responsible and has to take the lion's share of the blame. It would appear that at this time. We're still not close to being set at the game's most important position.

Take lack of audibles for a minute. If KC is allowed to audible. Then there's no excuse for him staying with the called play that took RBs directly into the stunts the Cowboys were running on numerous occasions.

If Gruden hasn't allowed him to audible than the question must be asked, why not?

Regardless of which scenario it is though. To me the answer breaks down to Kirk not being ready and there's no excuse for that. As while he doesn't have a whole lot of games as starting QB under his belt. He's been in the league for 4 years and is supposed to be the best available option of the QB on the team to run Gruden's offense.

Kind of hard for Cousins to do much when he has 2-3 defenders in his face on practically every play! This one was not about Cousins. This was about getting dominated by the Cowboys D line and LBs for most of the night. Part of that falls on the Redskins O line and part on the Dallas defense. Oh well - just means that the Redskins still need to rebuild some more on offense. BTW - it would help if a Skins RB would actually block every now and then.

The only man who's blocking capable is FB Darrel Young. He clearly seems to have been phased out of Gruden's OL as TEs, TE heavy offense. Toool bad those OL can't block either or apparently know that if the DL and LBs stack the line and fill the gaps. You always always always block down.

Did anyone else catch the comment by Jon Gruden. along the lines of Everytime the Redskins come out with that OL as TEs heavy offense. Its a run play.

my how quickly we forget

look people what ever happened to this being a rebuilding year ? we arent ready this year was the refrain and when it actually plays out that way we are "shocked "

we talk like we are a contender when in fact we are a sub 500 club that is young and injured

you cant miracle in experience

i said it before , i will say it again this team this year is going to frustrate us however we are making progress

another good draft and some reasonable free agancy moves and we will continue to be moving in the right direction

BTW buddy - give it a year or two. The Redskins will surpass the Giants while we continue to witness an aging Manning put up more picks. The Skins are built for the future - not now.

Dont know how you figure that......Where is the young talent we should all be fearing in years to come? Kirk Cousins who shows up once every 4 weeks? Matt Jones who show up less often?.......Anything worth retaining defensively?.......This isnt me endorsing the Giants, but having Odell alone has me feeling better about the future than I think the Skins look

Good point DDD, having Amari Cooper on the Redskins would be nice right about now...

Yep. I refused to get upset at last night as hard as that is to do because I expected it to happen. I also said earlier int he week that win or lose I have no complaints about watching a big game on December 7th so I have to stick with that, just happy they are playing meaningful games this late.

It does suck that seemingly every time we show up on a national stage it confirms the reputation that we are a sorry ass team. I would have preferred to put up a better showing. But like I said I totally expected this to happen and understand we are still a few years away.

Well Schreff, Crowder, Smith, Jones & some good rookie FA pickups are not bad, and I believe that this is only the beginning. To hell with that Giants fan - this team will be fine over the course of the next few years. HTTR

If you guys are going to complain about play-calling, please make sure you don't make yourself look stupid.

A stunt can not be predicted or seen by a QB. A stunt is when there is crossing of DL during the play. You do not call audibles away from them. The OL have to make adjustments and pass off players.

The QB can see certain blitzes coming and he and the center are both responsible for calling out responsibilities for blocking. That is something I do not see KC doing...calling out the "Mike." The "Mike" is the guy he is expecting to come on the blitz that needs an OL to be assigned or an adjustment of the RB to block.

Jackson with the bone-headed play... I wouldn't call it a "Goodell special"
Jackson made up for it to tie the game...

it was entertaining let's say that!

Catching the TD didn't make up for it. That play changed everything in the game. If he had not fumbled the ball, we could have got into field goal range and kicked the game winner without ever letting Dallas touch the ball. Maybe we could have scored a TD first, Dallas then scores, and we kick the game winner.

The Skins aren't ready this year for what? To compete with the likes of New England or Carolina or Denver on a regular basis? Sure, I'm with that. If the Skins played Seattle 10 times they'd be fortunate to win two games at the max? No problem agreeing with that, hell, maybe just one game I might opine. But not ready to beat a 3-8 Dallas team that had no victories when Romo didn't play and Matt Cassell was the QB they'd be seeing? Fuck that. Or not ready to have their first 2 game winning streak 12 games into the 2015 season? Fuck that to. Not ready to look like something more than a high school ofense from 1979. That couldn't buy a TD if it had gazillion dollars for the first 59 minutes into a game with those very same Cowboys? That's some bullshit.

i think you miss the point about a young team playing a rival and not having really found out why its a rival ?

we arent winning back to back games or road games because we are a young team with holes we arent good enough

now breed we have scored points on teams . we have run some sophisticated plays ,

who knows callahans schemes better then the cowboys ?

and remember that 3 -8 team lost 5 games by a TD or less and 2 went to OT

the week prior to dallas i brought all these things up

i had us as a 6-10 team and i warned about fools gold as well seems to me you went mining for it

we still are in 1st place , which i said at worst that is where we will be , we still control our destiny for what its worth . i expect we wont win the division because this team isnt any good yet however i will root for it

the question is 2 fold , can we bounce back and beat the bears ? and 2 can we win our division games on the road

we were a 5-6 LOSING football team going into last nite but you act as if we had 9 wins already

the arrogance of some us to think we were better then we were never ceases to amaze me

if you and others couldnt see that dallas could beat us then you had football blinders on

yeah i get being pissed but take a breath and look at what we are not hyperbole

I haven't mined for anything and I'm under no illusions that the Skins were a 9 win team. My expectations I guess are higher than being a notch above hot dog-shit. Which is where yours seem to be squarely located. And that's fine for you as their your expectations.

Sure, the Skins were a 5-6 losing football team going into last night's game. To play a 3-8 losing football team on their 3rd QB. And it was at home no less where they had won their last 5 games and had been playing fairly well.

If it was arrogant to believe that the Skins offense should've made a much better showing than they did because and in no particular order they could've accomplished.............A) getting their first winning streak of the season started B) got to .500 for the first time since week 4 when they were 2-2 C) could've been atop the NFC East by themselves as opposed to a multiple team tie. All was enough incentive to believe the Skins would come out ready to play (and the defense did) and had me expecting a better showing and end result than what we saw. Then I'll be arrogant. Better that than expecting hot dog-shit every time the Skins have a real and reasonable chance to take more than one step forward.

And if you don't think it was reasonable to believe the Skins could've and should've won last night. Than maybe your expectations aren't even level with hot dog-shit.

They could have won Breed, if Hopkins makes that field goal. If DJax doesn't decided he can surrender 20 yards on a punt return and carry the ball in the wrong arm and if they had covered a KO.
All that being said I don't disagree with dad. I too hoped we could beat Dallas but it didn't happen. I still see improvement in this team but more improvement is needed. We believe we will get that from SM.

I really can't argue with any of this. Maybe some of us are settling for "not there yet" when our team loses a game they really needed and clearly should have won.

It is not a question of settling for anything. It is a question of being realistic. You hope for the best but at the same you understand why they fall short if you operate under the premise that this is a rebuilding team. The WP article pointed out 12 times in the game where the Skins fell short and if any of those do not occur the Redskins very likely win the game.

This is how it is for a young, rebuilding team. They are going to be inconsistent, commit stupid penalties, be out of sync at times, make crucial mistakes, etc. I hate it as much as you and say some pretty stupid things during the game. However - when a few days have passed I come to my senses & realize that this is all part of the process.

You can accept it or rail out against it. It doesn't matter - it is going to occur. The key is how it is handled moving forward. IMO - over time they stockpile talent, continue to develop players & get rid of players who continue to make critical mistakes unless they counter it in a major way (see Jones, Matt & Reed, Jordan). I realize that a lot of this is frustrating, but several of us pointed this out heading into this season and realistically this is a 6-7 win team.

You never seem to get bothered by anything. You are the message board poster equivalent of a participation trophy. :D

As I said I'm not all worked up because I expected it. But I certainly can see why others remain frustrated at such a pathetic performance against a very beatable team with so much at stake.

all those thoughts you have are ok but what you are forgetting is what we are . a losing rebuilding football team . 5 and 6 3 and 8 eh both are losers . sure dallas is on their 3rd qb but we are playing a wr at CB one of our cbs wasnt on the team 2 ilbs one is a back-up and one was signed few weeks ago

now if you want to call me out on making excuses , fine , but we lost on a 54 yard fg on the next to last play of the game and not by 35 points like you make it seem

my expectations are we are a 6 win team . and 6 win teams blow football games

incentive to win is a good thing . having the talent and experience to execute is another thing

I'm not calling you out, dad. And if my language was a little harsh forgive me. We just have a fundamental disagreement is all. You think I'm delusional, and I've been called much worse. While I think your expectation bar for our favorite squad is far too low. That's all. No harm, no foul.
