Never read a musical note either. His body of work is huge.

His solo in Brown Sugar is free form sax....

I played a tenor sax in highschool band. I played piano for 9 years.

I couldn't sit down and plunk a tune on either without some music sheets, and likely not then any longer.
You can hear him play sax on recordings "The Wanderer" by Dion and "Return To Sender" by Elvis.

He was rythmn guitarist.

The Stones never had specific roles like that... just 2 guys playing different guitar parts and it was all dependent upon the song, and probably Keith, who played what. Some songs don't even have 2 guitars and between Jones and Taylor, Keith played both parts on a few tunes... not live, but on the recording.

All of the guitars on this one are Keith for instance -

I love Keith. Always have, always will. A decent guitarist.

And Dirty Harry Callahan would like him too because he knows his limitations.

What he can do he does very well. He knows not to push things. And with Wood at his side they make a complete player.

Beggars Banquet
Exile
Let It Bleed
Sticky Fingers

My pecking order. I love Beggars Banquet. A few brews and I can sing Dear Doctor too!

Those are probably my fave 4 as well. Prime Stones. Ronnie era has some great tunes, but the albums weren't as consistently great.
