Fire Mike Malone
It might go down as the Luka Doncic trade of coaches in terms of city popularity, but it’s one I believe is necessary...
In spite of a recent title, CBS this week ranked Denver the #24 front office out of 30 teams. I don’t believe that ranking is justified, and firmly believe it’s more a reflection on Malone than it is on Calvin Booth.
Young or old, Denver’s bench players have absolutely no chemistry with the starters, and it’s a result of a complete lack of reps… Booth has made considerable effort to replenish the Nuggets’ bench through the draft and free agency (Saric, a 38% 3PT shooter in GS at a reasonable cost of two years/$10M), but he and Malone clearly aren’t on the same page.
A rumored rift between Malone and Booth is absolutely justified, as Malone is grown overly comfortable with his starting five as a result of that title (think Thibs and his Bulls days)…
I am happy how Jalen Pickett has played lately off the bench… Gave us a breath of fresh air during the recent winning streak. But, of course, he was back to being buried as soon as Russ came back from his hamstring strain.
In garbage time last night, Pickett made a three that allowed us to reach triple digits in what was otherwise a dreadful performance against the Lakers…
