Nice pickup for the Jackets. Perhaps not a great salary-wise contract, but, if you want to even try to keep up with Detroit and Chicago and maybe even St.Louis come October this is the kind of player you want in close games. Hopefully a change of scenery will do him good.

I don't agree, Dup, maybe it was just the Oilers taint, but I see Moreau as a guy with declining skills and somebody who was creating waves in the Oilers dressing room.

There's a reason why Columbus has drafted in the top ten in 10 of their 11 seasons, and moves like this are it.

Who hasn't been creating waves in the Oilers dressing room? Hehe.

I think Moreau is a good fit in CBJ. Absolutely agree he is nowhere worth the money he is making, but that makes it a bad contract, not him a bad player.

Kovalchuk has only seen the playoffs twice in his career. Doesn't mean teams are going to stay away from him tomorrow morning.

If Kovy does indeed go to the Kings, they could be a very scary team next season...

Word around here is that the Jackets are done. Not gonna dip into free agency, if they go after a D-man it will be through a trade at even money. They are targeting a 51m payroll and with two guys left to sign, they should hit it.

Moreau is going to be a third liner with Boll or Dorsett and Pahlsson. They have no illusions that he is going to challenge for a top minutes spot. Apparently he and Chris Clark are buddies and they need some more happiness in the locker room. That's the whole reason they got him.

Not a wise move, IMO. And I don't see him even on the third line if Mayorov makes the squad. Filatov supposedly wants to play nice now too. Plus the rumors of him being a jackass in Edmonton, just make it too risky a move for a team that may not really need him. We'll see how it turns out.

But yeah, Howson is not taking calls from Murray anymore (Unless he's offering Karlsson) and they are not going to jump into the Volchenkov fray.
