In all seriousness, Ohio St can be the clear #1 and realistically only have 3-5 of the best players in the nation. Actually having like 10-11 means they'll be beating the other Big 10 teams by 40 points.

I'm not sure how serious to take this list.

This is going to be a really, really boring football season if Ohio St is that loaded

I wonder how many they had on the list last year. One thing about these things is that a lot of players emerge and some fall off. Who knows which team could have multiple players emerge this year.

Upsets happen every year. Ohio State is just as vulnerable to a loss as the rest of the teams. Hell look at Bama in 2013, who could have imagined them losing the Iron Bowl that way. You never know what will happen. Ohio State has to be careful not to overlook anyone, because everyone is gunning for them
Exactly. If it was so easy to go undefeated, tOSU would have done it more than 6 times in 130 years. Plus, repeating as champions is difficult. Winning even one is really difficult.

I expect the Buckeyes to win every game, but it won't shock me if they stumble. The teams they play have guys on scholarship, too.

Well, yeah. ESPN hypes up some team every year. I think one year they were trying to hype a USC team before the season and they ended up having 4 or 5 loses. I do think Ohio St deserves hype as a favorite but at some point the list loses credibility like that silly one NFL Network does every year for NFL players.

Whoops mistyped that lol. Well the season he had I dont blame him. Marriota is the only QB who had a better season and he was amazing winning the Heisman.
I am just looking at a guy like Goff on a bad team that had a touch under 4000 yards passing with 35 TDs and 7 ints. That is really impressive and he doesnt have the players around him that other QBs have. I am not sure Barrett succeeds at CAL the way Goff did. I am very confident Goff has success at OSU, maybe not the same level, but still very successful. That is why I am surprised to see JT 30 slots higher, especially since he has not locked the job down

Yep the monkey is their back. They will get everyones' best game. That's why repeating is so hard.

Well you dont see too many QB's succeed with stats at Ohio St, BUT you do in Meyers' system. You see quite a few QB's succeed in that passing attack at Cal too. They are both top college QB's, Barrett right now is just the more versatile player. Versatile helps a lot in college, maybe that's why the higher ranking idk

Meyers has had great success. I actually think it is tough to judge QBs for Meyers. The same goes for Bama and Wisconsin RBs. They all tend to get over-rated, because almost every starter at those positions succeeds. I probably tend to under-rate the superstar in those systems, while others over-rate the average starter. You get into the question of whether it is the system or the player. It is hard to know, which is the main reason for the success.

I agree. If Ohio St QB's do succeed they are usually busts at the next level, same with Meyer usually, but in college they are usually great.
I think it is both-system and player-maybe he just doesnt prepare them for the NFL in the right system. I do think since we are seeing more and more of the spread offense in the NFL it could help his players out in the future. But it's only anyones guess

Volunteers ranked by ESPN
#56 Derek Barnett DE
#68 Jalen Hurd RB
#88 Curt Maggitt LB
#98 Cameron Sutton CB

As a team, I expect the Volunteers to be ranked higher than Barnett's #58 in the polls. Team sport. Team Tennessee. Brick by brick, baby!

Kind of surprised Von Bell didn't make it. He led the Big 10 last year in Ints I believe.

Lol, 1 and 2. Guess they didn't have Brax up there because he's switching positions? 2-time B1G player of the year...seems like he got snubbed to me.

Hilarious they have 1 and 2 tho. :dhd:
