ESPN pulls Williams from MNF opening

Walt Disney himself may have been a conservative although I believe he was a liberal but the corporation today is very liberal.

That is ridiculous, Disney execs made edits to The Path to 9-11 intended to lay blame more on the Clinton Administration and ABC Radio runs KSFO. Very Liberal indeed.

I think ESPN needs to take a long hard look at itself in the mirror on this one. ESPN is a news network first and foremost and as such should fully understand the meaning of freedom of speech.

They should also understand due criticism.

Obama preached during his campaign about how he was change we could believe in. He fleeced the population into believing he would make things better. Three years later and things are actually worst. Obama deserves all the criticism.

Case in point for ESPN. The Eagles spend the off-season bringing in big names and being hyped as the team to beat in the NFL. We are now 4 games into a 1-3 season for the Eagles, and they are getting ripped by the media. Do they deserve it? absolutely and so does Obama.

Imagine if the NFL conducted their business the way ESPN is right now? Imagine if the NFL came out and said they were pulling ESPN's media rights to their product because of harsh comments being made on Sportscenter about some of their teams?

This is a joke and someone for Disney made an ill-advised decision on this one.

Alienate a large portion of our customers? While people might not agree with his comments, doesn't ABC have people on their channels that debate politics? Do they not ridicule the presidents. I remember all the Bush hate on their channels. They invite those people on. But if somebody says it on a competing network, they cancel his song? Just wondering why ABC would invite people to bash on one president, but if somebody says something like this about Obama, it is a big deal. Bush was called Hitler everyday.

ESPN has to protect it's own image. It's the nature of the business. The last thing anyone in their line of work wants to do is go to war with the ADL. Mel Gibson let his views slip, and he'll be lucky if he ever works again in TV and Movies.

Clyde had it right, you don't compare people to Hitler because in the eyes of the ADL... nobody comes close. To say someone is like Hitler, is to tell the ADL to go fuck themselves and stop crying about the Holocaust... at least that seems to be the way they take it.

Don Imus didn't get canned because the radio station disagreed with him, they fired his butt because they weren't going to take the hit for his comments. They wanted nothing to do with the boycotts and bad press if they chose to keep him.

In the end, it's only one game. In 2 weeks, everyone will forget this even happened.

you can speak out, but do it in the right place, right setting, etc.

Disney can do what they like with their property, whats so hard to understand? sponsors have pulled their plug on Tiger Woods, its their perogative to do so. why can't Disney do what they want with their property, 'free speech' right?
