I have one too many receivers for my flex position. I have been rotating decker and jordy Nelson through the first four games. Nelson has been consistent and decker has shown that he can put up some points. I have made decker available looking for a defense. These are the offers I have seen:

Decker for broncos D & Owen daniels(already have Greg Olsen)

Decker for titans D & miles austin(he would need to replace this with a running back if this is the better deal).

Should I make the trade or is their a hidden gem on the waiver wire. I am still a little unsure how waivers work but I currently sit at number 8 in the rotation. Defenses on waiver wire are colts, bucs, browns, bills, lions and Vikings. Any thoughts?

I personally consider a defense essentially no value in a trade.

Those trades are both ridiculous. I would rather keep one of them on the bench and start them situationally. Don't forget, your starting WRs are going to have a bye week, and Nelson has been a little nicked up.

grab the browns DST vs BUF for thursday night football.

waviers: you have the 8th position currently in your league. If you and another owner try to claim the same player off of waivers, then whichever owner has the better waiver priority gets the player (everyone under 8th currently has a better waiver position than you) Once you use your waiver position, you go to the end of the line. If you don't make any waiver claims all of the people that do who are currently ahead of you, will not be behind you.

In most of my leagues, waivers run on Wednesday each week, then any players that havent been picked up or dropped, can be added as free agents, which does NOT use up your waiver priority.
There are a ton of different variations of rules for the waiver process, just like everything else in fantasy football.

let me know if this helps!

You guys really know your stuff! All the mean, experienced fantasy ballers trying to take advantage of a little ol' newbie. Thanks for the advice and thank you for explaining waivers, SM!

Anytime, Jonas. One thing you'll find on this board is no shortage of fantasy knowledge.

In some leagues, a waiver period is followed by another waiver period. But most leagues on sites like CBS or ESPN have a waiver period followed by FCFS (first come, first served), where your claims are processed immediately.

It's very likely that your league is in FCFS at this time of the week rather than waivers, in which case you can add/drop at will.

There are very few DSTs that can be relied on as superior, they change year to year, and matchups mean a lot, so they're not valued very highly.

Depending on the site you use (ESPN, Yahoo, etc), you can tell if you are past your waiver period and into the FCFS part by pulling up the list of available free agents, looking at the icon that you click to add them and if there is a date next to it in parenthesis, it means waivers are applied at that time. If there's no date next to that icon, you're free to add at will.
