Clearly this team lacks pass rushers and talent at the RB position.

Offseason needs....
#1- Pass rushers
#2- RB or OL
#3- LB's or #2 CB

Although I agree with most of this, I think the lack of pass rush was due to 2 things. No push up the middle. CBs playing 10 yards off. The QB could just stand there and throw underneath all day in less than 2 seconds. No amount of pass rushers is going to fix that. Lions are playing a bend dont break out of a 4 - 3 which I think is ridiculous. Granted we are in the nickel quite a bit, I think it might be time to either play straight up or switch to a 3-4. Since it looks like Austin is staying still I dont see any changes this year.

So what is the solution?

There is talent in the secondary with Slay and Quin. Not sure why we have to play off and let these people complete passes all day. I remember when we had Suh and Fairley. That wasn't Austin's defensive style at all. We had the #2 ranked D.

I assume he is masking some of the talent issues in the linebacking core or DL talent. Either way, allowing 70+ percent of passes to opposing QB's has to improve if the Lions have any shot of winning a championship during Stafford's prime years.

I think the issue is threefold. DTs are not getting push up the middle. LBs can cover worth a damn, 2 of the 3 CBs didnt cover well. Caldwell is probably tying Austins hands with this extra conservative crap too.

I think moving Lawson inside and getting another better CB would help. Getting another DT that can collapse the pocket would mean tons of sacks for the young DEs. Another LB or 2 to cover and get to the QB would solidify things.

I think anywhere besides QB, FB, C and the two kickers will be an option for any and all picks.

Safety seems like a strong point, sort of. But your only proven guy turned 31 yesterday. And is only under contract thru the upcoming season.

Don't forget RB with the rest of that laundry list of demands lol.

Sad that die hard Lions fans see this many holes in a "playoff team".

May need to add C to that list with Swanson turning into the Jahvid Best of centers.

The team was better than the sum of its individual parts on defense. Offense underachieved though. We are also going to lose players in FA that will need to be replaced. Some of them are starters right now.

Also, keep in mind that we were behind in Q4 in almost every single game. We were razor close to being a 4 or 5 win team. Without Stafford and Prater giving super human efforts this year, thats where we would be.

Exactly, reminded me of that 2011 team that kept getting lucky as hell. Only to go into NO and get blown out. At least we had an entertaining offense that year.

Drew Brees has thrown for over 5,000 yards I believe 5 times now.

How them Saints been doing with that? lol
Yeah, he has something like 5/9 5000 seasons ever.

Not bad for the most stat orientated selfish player in the league.

He already got his championship. Time to pad the stats for the hall of fame.
