Eloy Jiménez set for rehab assignment at Winston-Salem

From the article: While it’s hard to predict exactly when Jiménez would return to the South Side, many believe he could make his 2021 debut in late July or early August.

This has to be heartening news for not just the fans, but the entire White Sox organization as well. Early on, the best case scenario for his return was at some point in September, if at all. Now it's looking like we might have Eloy's services for the entire stretch run....knock on my head of course. Let's hope we can receive similar news on Luis Robert. Even if his return is set for a later date in the season, just having these two young studs back on the roster and ready for the playoffs would give this club a ginormous boost.

I was just thinking of how Eloy got injured - by jumping up and forgetting to take his arm with him as he went down. He could really help the Sox as a DH - though and might end up liking it.

We're already overloaded with 1B types. Actually, we're overloaded with DH types too, but Eloy brings a great bat, so it's looking like his future home.

Eloy can DH - and continue to learn how to be a good outfielder. He hurts himself by playing defense recklessly - instead of smartly. I can identify with that - as I was the kind of little leaguer who dived recklessly for batted balls - just for the chance at a big moment. I, however, got out of the little league eventually - Eloy needs to play more under control. He can do it, but right now he helps the club with his bat.

i can see it now. ok eloy, you can play in left BUT ..... no reaching for the ball no matter where it's hit. don't jump at all! when you hit the warning track ...STOP! if the cf'r can reach it you let him have it! if it comes to you you may catch it. otherwise let the ball go for a hit. if someone is running toward you, you turn and run the other way! and always throw the ball to the cutoff man and not any farther!

I like how the Sox have announced a month long rehab in the minors - taking the pressure off Eloy and letting him gradually get his swing back.

Looks like Eloy is heading to Charlotte. Apparently the man is progressing along very nicely. Barring any setbacks, I see a callup by the end of this month.
