Makes me think there were other issues...just seems like a lateral move at the best.
both sides looking for 'fresh start boost'?
except one is young and one is old. one is signed, one is not.
odd.
He's completely taken leave of his faculties.
Lehner and Elliot would be, and is, a formidable tandem. And an inexpensive one at that.
I didn't even consider that he'd trade Elliott. And Murray, when you are rebuilding YOU DON'T RENT PLAYERS!!!
Is Elliot a RFA at the end of the year? Maybe he didn't want to resign him? Now he can simply let Anderson walk if he doesn't fit into the Sens plans.
As I mentioned...Elliott has been rumored to being a bit of a baby the last little while.
One thing about the Ottawa Senators. They always trade the guys who are problems. Or every guy they trade is a problem. Or, if they traded him, he was a problem.
Or something.
Well, to be fair, Murray didn't say that this time. He just said that Brian had a lot of pressure on him after Leclaire went down and that he was too hard on himself.
Sounds like a guy who needed a fresh start and they got a guy that they could potentially re-sign for next season. Murray was also hesistant to say that Lehner is the guy now and that he needs a little more seasoning down in the AHL.
I never heard that Elliott was a baby. His body language and his demeanor looked perhaps a little bit sulky, but the team is losing. I wouldn't expect, or hope, that everything will be roses.
Lehner probably shouldn't be the guy next year. I'd be happy having Anderson back next year (gotta be for less than $3M/year though, IMO). Looke what he did for a really young Avs team last year. Let Lehner play a ton in the A and he can always be called up if necessary or if he's outgrowing the AHL.
