Silva's Pre-Draft Top 150 - Goal Line Stand - Rotoworld.com

Murray at 6 > McCoy at 16
Jordan Matthews at 30 > DJAC at 52 or Maclin at 59
Bradford at 122 > Foles @ unrated

Double checking with Matt Berry...

Matthew Berry's offseason 2015 fantasy football rankings - Fantasy Football - ESPN

Murray at 11 < McCoy at 9
DJAX at 47 > Jordan Matthews at 48 > Maclin at 67
Bradford at unrated ?? Foles @ unrated

And Chrisopher Harris....

Christopher Harris' offseason 2015 fantasy football rankings - Fantasy Football - ESPN

Murray at 9 > McCoy at 11
DJAX at 16 >Jordan Matthews at 21 > Maclin at 32
Bradford at 14 > Foles @ 24

and Eric Karabell....

Eric Karabell's offseason 2015 fantasy football rankings - Fantasy Football - ESPN

Murray at 11 > McCoy at 12
Jordan Matthews at 47 > DJAX at 48 >Maclin at 66
Bradford at unrated ?? Foles @ unrated

So either the fantasy guys like the Kelly system, or they feel the Eagles traded up in talent.

The big surprise to me is Jordan Matthews. The fantasy guys are very high on him. There definitely is production to be had here, buts it unclear whether it will go to Matthews, Huff, Ertz or Sproles. The fantasy guys are betting on Matthews as the big recipient.

If your a fantasy guy, I would also keep an eye on Dallas RB. Whoever starts should be very productive.

Also interesting to note that the Dallas RB, McFadden is ranked at 62, 28 (positional), 64 and 134 in these rankings. The Eagles arguably really hurt the Cowboys here. I do suspect though that once the depth chart in Dallas becomes clear, the starter will be ranked very high.

Really couldn't care less what rotoworld or espn has players ranked in terms of fantasy…especially in March

Even if your not into Fantasy, its somewhat interesting as the Eagles players are all generally rated higher than the guys they replaced. Suggests that the Eagles are perceived by these analysts as doing something right.

I'm a fantasy nut and have been in at least 2 leagues for the last 10 years lol. Rotoworld and ESPN rankings are a joke, especially this early-- it's March.

Scoring systems of leagues also alter draft rankings. Fantasy football is also not based soley off talent, but off scheme and production. It should be pretty obvious Jordan Matthews as the #1 guy in our offense should have more production than Jeremy Maclin in KC with Alex Smith who had 0 passing TDs to WRs last year.

Yep. Whether it's scheme or talent the Eagles players are rated higher than the guys who left. People are respecting what the Eagles do here.

lol…I'm not saying what we did this off-season was good or bad, but to base your opinion off of fantasy football rankings is irresponsible at best…I'm trying to be polite here. If Maclin was still here he would be a lot higher than the #30-48 Jordan Matthews is ranked btw.

irresponsible? Really? We are talking about opinions on a sport. I have no responsibility to be irresponsible with. And BTW, I wasn't stating what my opinion was, just find it interesting that these thinkers that could care less about the Eagles (or any other team) seem to view it the way they do.

I have been doing Fantasy for 25 years, so I fully understand how they do these rankings and how irrelevant they are at this time of year. Its actually amazingly high to rate Matthews that high when its not even clear if he will see more playing time, or if his quarterback will have two knees. There is arguably huge instability in the Eagles at QB, OL and WR, yet their estimates are still incredibly optimistic.

Like I said - I was trying to be polite.

Fact is, our offense produces numbers with whoever starts at QB. You think not having Foles should lower Matthews ranking? He was more productive with Mark Sanchez as his QB than Nick Foles buddy, you're a numbers guy…check your favorite source, stats.

Jordan Matthews with Nick Foles (and Jeremy Maclin still as the #1 WR): 6 1/2 games: 2 TDs and 59 total yard was his max for 1 game.

Jordan Matthews with Mark Sanchez (w/ Jmac): 8 1/2 games: 6 TDs and 3 100 yard games. Including a 138 yard and 2TD performance in week 10 -- the first week Sanchez was the starter heading into a game.

Now Eagles have Bradford and another year with Sanchez. Matthews also takes the proverbial 2nd year leap most rookies do. Matthews also doesn't have Jeremy Maclin taking away targets from him. Matthews becomes our most legitimate WR on the team. Most likely the team leader in catches -- the same team that competes for the most snaps per offense in the NFL…aka opportunities. Oh…and Fantasy players LOVE upside players, and breakout candidates. Jordan Matthews is the quintessential breakout candidate in FF.

You still can't figure out why Jordan Matthews would be ranked that high in fantasy football? You've been playing for 25 years huh? I'd love to play in the same league as you in the near future. The higher the stakes the better.

Now there is the Birds4Life I am accustomed to. :). You did a nice job there of laying out the thought process of the Fantasy guys regarding the Eagle players and I can see you understand.

You have done a good job of backing up my point. I like to look for independent opinions as to what I think and see if it backs up or refutes my opinion. I generally have had a positive opinion of Chip, especially his offensive skills, and believe he will have success with what he is doing.

And it seems the Fantasy guys agree. They view that the Eagles will be successful without Foles, Maclin and McCoy and rate their replacements very high despite no history in this offense. And that the players that left will have less success elsewhere. So its Kelly and the Eagles offense that they are high on rather than the players that left.

Since when does being successful in fantasy football translate to success on the gridiron.

Interesting question. So I took a look at the top 5 fantasy performers in 2014 at QB, RB and WR. The cumulative winning percentage for the teams those players played on was 158-82 for a 66% winning percentage.

this is a strange question considering most fantasy points system is based on gridiron performance.ie, points per yard caught.. ran.. etc.

I completely agree with you that scheme and 'next best alternative' is the more driving force in this. And I agree with you that arguably Maclin would be ranked higher here, than Matthews has been here.

But for you to not also see that they are saying this speaks to the opportunities that a CK led eagles team creates, regardless of player, and is reflected in fantasy prospects, seems rather elitist.

Besides, as you said, it's March. What is wrong with discussing fantasy or anything. Did we miss a preseason game or something that was just played?

When I say success on the gridiron, I mean more than a good regular season and maybe a playoff win. Success is getting to the Ship with a chance to win it. I also believe Chip's offense gives players great opportunities to put up good statistical years. Chip offense was great for fantasy purposes last year, but we struggled with negative plays from our RB, and missed opportunities on crucial downs, and far too many turnovers and 3 and outs to force our defense back out sooner than ideal. Great fantasy success, but our defense wasn't the only reason why we went 9-3 to missing the playoffs.

Yes it's March….so ESPN rankings which are usually bad to begin with, or even worse at this stage. We haven't even had an NFL draft yet, players can still be traded, injuries will happen and rosters will be different come August/Sept. All this will change the landscape for some players fantasy stock.

You'd really have to look at Maclin if he were here vs Matthews. Maclin would be rated higher by everyone.

And from the looks of it Maclin should pose some good value. He's performed well in Reid's offense before. He'll do it again. It's not like Andy added Maclin because he wanted the same passing game he had last year.

Looks like Shady could be good value too. They are going to pound him up there and that's how they'll move the football. And how is Murray not top 3??
