As reported on NFL Network this morning for the HC job. He is one of several coaches interviewing for it though, if he accepts the offer.

If Hue Jackson would be willing to go with more a West Coast philosophy, we already have our replacement on staff..

I hope Gruden gets the Philly job. they have a lot of talent on offense, and he's worthy of a HC job imo

Hue Jackson would be an excellent OC. Terrible GM, though...

I'd be happy with Hue as OC......Philly is also going to interview Chip Kelly, though.....

I'm getting from PFT, but supposedly Cleveland is the front runner and willing to do almost anything to land him

Espn said he's scheduled to meet with Philly this afternoon, but committed to contact Cleveland again afterwards, whether Philly offers or not.

Not that it necessarily matters, but it seems Philly would be closer to having the type of player he would want to run his offense. Of course he could come in and switch to a more NFL normal offense. Who knows?

I don't think Gruden goes to Philly. I don't think he is ready to move his kids again yet. I honestly think Brown has a deal with either Gruden or Zimmer to make them HC and move Marv into the FO.

I had the same thought. But if he does plan on going with an unorthodox "revolutionary" offense it might be a harder sell with a bunch of probowl skill players in Philly, than in Cleveland where he'll be given time to hand pick players to devlop in the scheme. that's just a wild guess. I do agree that Philly's speed at skill positions is a positive.

just the speculation that the Browns are willing to give him the money/power has to work in their favor..

I would hope Cleveland would give him more of a chance than they gave Shurmur.

I believe replacing Gruden wouldn't be nearly as difficult as replacing Zimmer, should he get a HC job.

LOL...make it stop. The Bengals offense was rated what this season? 20th? 23rd? He's not getting a HC job with that on his resume'.

12th in points with only one probowler on offense. he's done about as well as possible with the talent he's had to work with on that side of the ball

I really like Hue as OC, so I'm also less concerned about losing Gruden than Zimmer. However, as mentioned, Hue is more of a vertical guy than WC, so that doesn't favor Dalton as much.

There were also rumors a couple months back that Hue may be looking at going back to college to HC.

The 12th in points is a bit misleading, but I agree, he's done very well for his personnel. And just watching his scheme and how players are always coming open is impressive. It might be too much to ask for early on, but I'd like to see him calling plays as HC.

yup. both coordinators got the most out of their players. all you can ask out of a coach.

There was an article a few weeks back where Greg Cosell mentions in praise of Zimmer that when you watch the Bengal's defense week-to-week, their game plan/technique is skillfully designed to stop the opposing offense. The only issue is in the player personnel.

I don't understand how Gruden's name is always thrown around for HC jobs, but you rarely ever hear about Zimmer. About the only time I remember hearing Zimmer's name for a HC spot is during games when the announcers talk him up. If we lose Zimmer, this team is screwed. So I guess it's a good think his name isn't batted around more often.

Gruden has a few advantages..

-name recognition (if his last name were Smith I doubt teams would have been requesting an interview last yr)
- Offenisve minded coaches are generally preferable as HC canidates (teams are more interested in getting the guy to help their QB excel as opposed to their DE)
-he has head coaching experience (only in the minor leauges, but it did help him brush up on time management, when to use timeouts etc)

I agree that Zimmer has been a great DC who should have been geiven a chance yrs ago. he's just not the "sexy" name. at this point he probably never will be
