It’s the season of mock drafts and thinking what will happen with the Broncos #9 pick. Will they trade it? Use it on a CB? QB?

Which leads to the dumb question today - what was the worst draft pick the Broncos have made in the past 20 years, and what can they learn from past wasted picks?

Paxton Lynch. They can learn that they have to do a better job of evaluating the players work ethic, desire for football, and interests off the field. Maybe find different ways to uncover this information.

Hard to argue with Paxton Lynch. It is not only that he was bad on and off the field, but the fact that he set the team back about 3-years because they kept waiting for him to figure things out. They compounded the problem instead of figuring out a fix. Missed out on some great QB's in the process.

Jarvis Moss is one that sticks out as well. Broncos traded up to get him and the guy did almost next to nothing for the team. Looked good in shorts, but the second the pads came on the guy just disappeared. In 6 seasons he had 6 total sacks.

Jarvis Moss and Paxton Lynch were first two I thought of.
Let’s face it. I am a Florida homer and not even I liked Jarvis Moss. He was a one game wonder at Florida (championship game vs Ohio State) prior to that game he was a rd 4 pick, IMO.

My absolute least favorite pick in Broncos history was trading up for Richard Quinn in Rd 3 though. Dude did nothing for me in terms of a prospect. I wasn’t a Lynch fan but I was hopeful it may turn out. I had no hope in Quinn and very little in Moss.
I also thought Siemien was awful at Northwestern and made my feelings well known here before we even made that pick but it was rd 7 so who cares???

Back in the day I was SHOCKED when we drafted Florida WR Travis McGriff in Round 3 too.

Don’t even get me started on some of these pics. Guessing George is looking more for first round.
Then there was Jeremy LeSeur whoI loved in rd 3 and he never played a down for us. :(

Outside of Lynch
Ted Gregory was a terrible pick
Thought he was 6”1 NT turns out he was 5”9
Not only was he short he had a knee injury from college that gave out in TC

remember this is how bad Paxton was
Only first round qb to never start for the team that drafted him . Sure he played due to injury but was never anointed the day 1 starter

in the history of all 1 st round QBs

True story Ted Gregory was a heck of a pianist - which is unusual for a NT who needs his fingers to play the ivories.

Didn’t McD give up a first to get Alphonso Smith in the 2nd? And he turned out to be terrible.

At least he was wise enough to take Tebow. Most successful Broncos QB actually drafted by Denver.
