I didn't gather that from his post, but at the end of the day the club @ the impact position is the most important thing in the golf swing...the last golf instructor I had was really big into impact position and he would show all these pro golfers swings, some not so pretty if you will like Furyk, different body types (Nancy Lopez and Craig Stadler were in this footage)...then at the end he showed all the same swings frozen at impact and amazingly they all looked very similar. Then he would show your swing frozen @ impact.

Now there are many things along the way that will prevent you from being in a good impact position consistently.

We agree. It just wasn't important enough to me that he understand the concept for me to argue with him. I think more people get themselves in trouble from swing analyzers than benefit from them.

Understand...we talked about the hang back flip...I had gotten into a bad rut with it...you've heard the phrase I'm sure..."a fade will listen, but a hook won't" or something like that...that was the last lessons I had and when he showed me where I was @ impact after looking at the pros in the same position, it was fairly easier to see why I was hooking so bad.

Even though we instinctively use our legs in other sports to generate power...for some reason it doesn't transfer to golf for the masses.

I had the same experience at a lesson and was doing the same thing you mention above. It was a real eye-opener for me.

Just go to the Golf channel.com or PGA.com To find things that could work for you.
I Just swing a heavy club, And chip & putt in the off season.
But nothing matters like hitting real balls in real conditions.
Perfect practice makes a better player. Practicing what You've been doing just gives you the same old results.
Good words of advice, wish I could quote the author. Good Luck.
PS. Never got any good advice from a non pro.

I think the worst thing you can be in baseball is a guy who throws left and bats right because as a lefty you are limited in what positions you can play and batting right handed you are just like everyone else. The best, in my opinion, other than being a switch hitter, is batting left and throwing right. That way you can play any position and still be the left handed bat that teams are always looking for.

Agreed. I threw right and batted switch but I always played in the outfield. The weird thing is that even though I batted left 90% of the time against right handers I had a lot more power batting right handed which is why I golf right handed.

Anyways, I have a cheap ball return I got off of Amazon for a cup and I do a lot of putting and chipping. I try to line the walls with blankets and stuff so if any of them are off by too much there isn't any damage. Sometimes if it's not that cold out I can set up a mat and a chip basket (if there is snow out use orange or yellow balls).

Good for you. You can never practice your short game too much. It takes discipline to do it.
