The guys who follow our minor leaguers closely really love Nick Snyder. He is a relief pitcher at Frisco.
From Scott Lucas today:

"Nick Snyder gave up a run in his first AA outing. In the six since: 25 batters, 13 strikeouts, no walks, four singles. Snyder was Texas's 19th-round pick in 2017 and spent two seasons in rookie ball despite being 21 when drafted. He pitched well in low-A in 2019 in relief, but after Tommy John surgery in March 2020, he was omitted from the 40-man roster and passed through the Rule 5 draft unclaimed. Upon his return, Snyder's velocity has improved from the mid to high 90s, hitting triple digits on occasions, and the slider is angrier. He's going to pitch in the Majors, perhaps in 2021."

Here is how I personally rank the possibilities in the first round

1. Rocker
2. Leiter
3. Davis
4-6(tie) The Three high school SS

I would be thrilled with either of the top two and very happy with Davis.

Im sticking by what I said all along. Give me a vandy pitcher. Prefer leiter, but still would get excited about rocker.

5 hours boys.

I think the Rangers have the makings of rotation pieces 2 through 5 currently in their system with the possibility of an ace. I think both Leiter and Rocker could be an ace and could easily be at least a number 2.

If we take Davis, I will be fine with that pick, knowing that we need more hitting in the organization. It could be argued that we are deeper at starting pitching in the organization that we are at hitting.

If we do draft Davis, Huff could easily move to 1B.

I am getting really old. Bobby Witt Jr. is in the Futures game. Last night Curtis Terry hit 2 HR off of Derek Rodriguez, the son of some guy named Ivan Rodriguez.

Give me four 2's/3's over a 1 and 4's/5's.

Exactly.

I believe Winn, Crouse, Vanasco, Roby, Ragans, Owen White and Henriquez all have really good chances at being at least a number 3 and maybe a number 2.

Leiter has made it clear he wants to play for Boston. Not sure I would take him first unless a good trade deal could be made with Boston. Not sure if that could even be done but if Leiter does not want to be a Ranger than Rocker would be my choice of the two pitchers.

He doesn't have much recourse if another team drafts him. Also, just because Boston drafts him that doesn't mean he won't be traded when Boston needs immediate help in a pennant run next year or the year after that. To me, that part is a non-factor.

Can anyone find a direct quote from Leiter about him making demands? I have yet to see one.

Never herd him make any demands. Have read articles stating he wanted to play for Boston. Best I recall one of the sports guys picking their draft choices also mentioned it.

Heard the Leiter to Boston as well. Stating he would sign elsewhere only way over slot or return to school

Thank you. That is why I would strongly consider Rocker.
I commented on another post wondering if Boston and Texas were possibly talking a trade.

Baseball players really aren't in a position to dictate where they go. Leiter can go back to school this year, but eventually that won't be an option.

Also heard draft was fairly deep so going under slot for early pick may net an overall better haul. Point is the best players are not always picked in order. What you are willing to sign for is a factor.

Which is why college seniors sign under slot more than others. There is no leverage.
For the record I have no idea who we pick but to me we pick Leiter or a SS or Davis under slot
