LHP Domenic Mazza assigned to San Jose Giants from Augusta GreenJackets.
Weird to see that move so late. I guess that they are looking for some help to make a push for the playoffs (being 1 game back from Modesto and Modesto winning the 1st half).

If San Jose had ANY starting pitching this year, they'd easily make the playoffs. Their pitching has been ugly.

They had this dude, Madison Bumgarner, start for them and he did nothing! Had to send him down to San Francisco to work on a few things. Doesn't look like he'll be coming back to San Jose this year though.

AZL Giants (Rookie) WALKED-OFF 10-9

Seth Corry 3.0-1-1-1-1-0
Ray Black 1.0-0-0-0-2-3. Black is back. If he can ever stay healthy for a moment, still has insane movement and velo (96-98 today).
I looked up Black's minor league profile and on the transaction section it lists the last two transactions as such:

t408.png
August 17, 2017 RHP Ray Black assigned to AZL Giants.
137.png
April 4, 2017 San Francisco Giants released RHP Ray Black.

Funny how the Giants could assign him somewhere 4 months after releasing him. There is obviously another transaction missing there.

I think we talked about this at some point, and I forget what conclusion we came to, but I was under the impression that Black and Gardeck both returned, but it flew under the radar.

Melvin Upton has opted out of him MiLB deal
That's kinda a dick move, isn't it?

He signed with the Giants. Immediately got hurt (or was he hurt coming in?). The Giants footed the bill for his rehab and once he is ready to play, he says "Fuck y'all, I am out of here!"

Pretty much. I hadn't thought of it that way, but yeah that's essentially what he did.

The Giants do have a volume discount on rehab expenses this season, though.

Seemed a bit pre-emptive on his part, I think. His numbers weren't that good. Unless he knew someone was going to sign him and guarantee him a spot on a 25 man roster, I'm not sure why he would do that. Oh well. Maybe Caleb Gindl gets brought up to AAA. His numbers look really good at Richmond.

Forgot to mention some pretty bad news:

On Sunday, Heliot Ramos took a fastball to the head. Didn't look pretty.

A day after, Heliot Ramos said "All was good", but with head injuries you never know. Giants will surely take it slow.
