Does anybody know the numbers on his contract? Like how many years he has left and how much of it is guaranteed? How big of a hit would it be if we cut him? The only thing I know about his contract is he is going to make close to 5 mil next season.

I didn't realize this was his final year. Damn we need two safeties ASAP.

I think that increases the likelihood we resign Goldson and draft a SS..(Shamarko Thomas possibly?)

I think Goldson is a goner.

I'm dreaming of Reid at SS and Rambo at FS. Cut Whitner and sign a CB in free agency.

we should sign someone and draft 1 or 2 safeties depending how the draft goes. ideally i'd like to bring in reed who could be a good stop gap until while the rookies develop.

You know what - I'd be okay with starting two rookie safeties if it meant we got upgrades to d-line rotation and especially the CB. We'd still have communication problems/growing pains, but it could work as long as we were able to limit their responsibilities. And that could happen if we had another really good CB along with a more consistent pass rush.

The FS would be taken early and be expected to contribute right away. He won't be as good as Goldson, but definitely shouldn't be a target either. The SS would be the weak link of the defense. Trenton Robinson might be able to do something if it's not working out.

I'm not sure though if the coaching staff really wants to put all that pressure on the rookie FS right away though, when this team is ready to go. So that's why we'll be getting a FA S to compete with the draft picks. Really don't want to pay Whitner all that money.

Two rookie safeties don't scare you?

In 1981 they had rookies at both Corner positions and the Strong Safety position along with a free agent Free Safety and they won the Super Bowl.

Lighting in a bottle? And I don't see no Ronnie Lotts in this draft. Hell we may be lucky to get a Williamson or Wright
